Born under the need to protect its colonies, the federation passed a order to form local militia groups. With this the Federal Defense Initiative was put into place . It gave the military the right to arm, train, and employ civilian settlers in the front line defense in case of invasion. For this the settlers would be pardoned for any crimes against the federation. The new pilots were given a basic sidewinder ship and simple crude military training, all other ships and tactics would have to be supplied by the local Commanders themselves. News of the program spread fast with all kinds signing up. Mercenary's, x-Cons, bounty hunters, raiders and so on till there numbers swelled to over five thousand. In the year 2887 a federal interest in WREGOR NG-Q called upon the FDI to come to its aid. All but ten commanders piloting ships ranging from corvettes to sidewinders. Contact was lost three days later with the flotilla and the outpost, well nobody knows what happened to it. All that's left of the FDI Is ten commanders. Once again the need for a flotilla sized militia is needed to protect the home lands.
