After about a week of ferrying rich snobs from place to place for their amusement, I am starting to grow unsure about the value of owning an Orca. Flying the Caravan around has made me plenty of money, don't get me wrong, but so far my experience has been that few people actually require the use of luxury cabins, the only real thing that makes the Orca worth flying. To make matters worse the ship is rather limited in terms of modules that can be made into luxury cabins, so I cannot even stack these missions.
Combine all these issues with the weak armor and frustratingly low jump range, I am starting to fear that purchasing the ship was a mistake.
Any-who, the excess of money I have made recently has been put towards purchasing a Type 9, as I had planned to do. I had heard infamous tales of how incredibly slow the craft was, but it was not until I had stepped into the pilot's seat and flown the ship out of the airlock that I realized how truly heavy the behemoth actually was. In spite of this, I am excited to put her to work, since she has more than double the cargo capacity of the Galleon. Unless I end up one day getting a cutter, she may have the most space out of all my planned ships. For this reason she has earned the name as the Merchant Mk I.
Naturally since I had the opportunity, I decided to buy myself a ship launched fighter. After all, a merchant needs a weapon to protect himself. Quite honestly, I am pleasantly surprised as to how these fighters work. They're cramped, hard to control, and feel like they are made of paper, but with a decent chaff launcher I have yet to take a hit. That, along with their rather disproportional amount of firepower makes them excellent ships for distraction and hit-and-run tactics. Therefore I have decided to name my lovely little Condor the Dagger Mk I.
I am unsure as to what I plan on doing next, as the only thing I see before me in terms of ships is the legendary Anaconda, but if anything, I think I will go on my first long distance exploration run. Perhaps to Sagittarius A, or maybe to Colonia. There are quite a few Nebulae out that way.
