Elite roleplay: Q&A and OOC

I even suggested once to RP your furry character as a former non-Imperial slave who's former master had a weird fetish and had said slave go through extensive genetic manipulations. I think that would be the furthest you could actually do this while still remaining friendly to Elite's lore.

I know no one is going to care but: I'm sorry for ever bring my OC here. I can't stand seeing all this shit any more and taking away the fun for everyone. I'm really sorry for even sharing my OC and the ideas with her.

I am tired of this knife being twisted to bring pain, or start up a fight just because. Please just drop it.

Just enough is enough. Nobody really cares about it anymore and I sure as hell am just tired of it. Forget it already and just go play, RP, whatever it is as you want.

MeowersJust don't say you was born a furry and suffered through the major part of your life because of it.

A lot of people do not seem to realize that plenty of furries are rejects from the society. I know a lot of furries who are handicapped, suffer mental disabilities (e.g. autism, Asperger), have different sexuality, were kicked from their homes, suffered serious trauma, are of different skin color, and so on. They became furries and joined the fandom, can express being themselves because they feel welcomed, because anyone else rejected them in the first place. There is a lot of reasons why people run into this sort of escapism and simply want themselves to be that way - usually making a new chapter in their lives, often even earning serious money from it. If not for the fandom, I wouldn't even known about Elite: Dangerous thanks to lack of funds to sustain at least minimal standards of being digital.

Then that same person claimed further victimhood when it turned out that no one wanted to roleplay in the alternative reality channel.

That's because furries are usually afraid that you all will go full Games Workshop - so they didn't want to go out. They have nowhere else to go so they stay silent, away from any roleplay section, because they aren't a billionaires who can throw money and create their own "furry" version of ED. What happened just proves their perception that reaching out to "normal" society will always meet with rejection and hostility.

Speaking as someone who has been a furry for over 10 years, with tens of thousands of pages of furry RP written and a lot of participation in the community, I can confidently say that furries are incredibly diverse in terms of... everything. You're here making out sound like all furries are handicapped social rejects, and therefore deserve special treatment wherever we go. Frankly, I find it pretty gross, and offensive to people who have actually experienced real discrimination and trauma stemming from who and what they are as a person that you're acting this way over being told that to RP within a canon RP thread, you have to follow the established canon. It's because of people acting like you are now that we're so reviled in so many corners of the internet. You gotta chill out and accept that most people just aren't into the things we are, and trying to force your interest into places where it isn't welcome does far more harm than good. You're giving us all a really bad look, and you definitely don't speak for all of us.

Equating being told you need to follow the rules and established canon for the setting you want to RP in to suffering discrimination and abuse for your identity is a pretty disgusting and offensive thing to people who have been forced to actually suffer through such. It's like saying you're in the same group of people who have severe PTSD from years of domestic abuse becuase one time as a kid your mum yelled at you for stealing a cookie from the cookie jar before dinner. It's highly inappropriate to make such a comparison.

The conversation has honestly been done to death a dozen times over. At first, I understood your point of view, I also thought it would be nice to be able to use some of my commissioned sona art in a sci-fi setting here, or use my sentient android OC, but I decided not to because respecting the lore of the setting I wanted to play in was more important. I don't RP here so much anymore, but now there's even a place where you can do your thing, and everyone else can do theirs. Your refusal to play in a space made for you is confusing at best. your behavior the last seven billion times this topic has come up eliminated any good will I had for you. It's time to just drop it. Please stop making furries look bad.

Just this.

Those comparisons are derogatory.

First of all, I think I owe you all an apology.

All stuff in here became a major misunderstanding, because some people somehow thought that "not able to roleplay as furry" was comparison to suffering discrimination. I absolutely did not mean that, because what I actually wanted to compare is what I took for provocation then ridiculing Knightwolf for her reaction just because "she is a stupid furry".

And that's what I wanted to compare with said discrimination, because I witnessed similar actions happening in my country: groups being ridiculed then negatively presented in media for their reactions, bolstering the negative opinion among the population about them and making said groups to react in even more hostile ways - fueling the mutual hatred more and more.

But thanks to how chaotic my posts were, I realized I did a major mistake long after it was too late. I am sorry once again, because it was my fault to become severely misunderstood.

Hope you all have a good day out there.

Thank you. Trying to.
And I hope your day was good as well. And we both came out of that situation wiser than we were yesterday.

It's an independent system and station, under control of Inara Nexus faction ('official' player faction of this website).

Citi Gateway is a bustling hive of scum and villiany. No two visits are ever the same.
