Born on the float on the outskirts of LHS 20 to a pair of aging miners without the resources to raise him, Coop Andersen grew up in OHM City with aspirations of becoming a bounty hunter like the toughened characters frequenting the station. Upon gaining his commander's stripes, he took his sidewinder and some multicannons straight out to the extraction site and opened up on the first pirate he saw. By the time he returned, he had enough bounties to buy his first cobra, and the next few years were a blur of boosted engines, twisted hulls, and hot tungsten. But all good things must come to an end. Hunting a particularly high-profile bounty, Coop found himself competing with a government headhunter. Upon bagging the target and heading back home to redeem the bounty, Coop found himself under arrest. His rival, it seems, had claimed that Coop had fired on him, and his connections gave his lies the weight of truth. Coop spent seven years on a penal colony, shipbreaking and hauling salvaged parts across the barren surface of a forsaken rocky moon. But it was deep in this pit of great despair and cruelty that Coop found his true calling. Using a few old tricks he remembered from his childhood as a gutter rat on OHM city, he managed to get a bootleg connection to the universal cartographic logs. When he wasn't laboring, he would scroll through the descriptions of distant, untouched systems, a new wonder in every entry. When he was released, he bought a Diamondback Explorer, fitted it with the best parts he could buy, and flew it straight to Colonia. Leaving the bubble and its superpowers and political games behind was the best decision he ever made. Cooper Andersen found his real home out in the black.
