Shinei was a normal child, born to the middle social class, his father served as Major General in the LHS 3295 army and his mother worked as a manager in Core Dynamics. Developing interests in High-Tech and Military department made him want to become a Mercenary that would go down in a blaze of glory, with his name being remember as the reliable mercenary, with experience in every field, basically the Jack of all trades. After attending an IT high-school, he attended a college specialized in AI, and because of his interest in military, he also enlisted in the military, working as a soldier for 2 years, he achieved the rank of a Sergeant Major due to his vast combat skills. He then applied for the Federal Navy, and since he was already a Sergeant Major in the army before, he started out as a Lieutenant, and climbed all the way up to Read Admiral in the span of 3 years. He was aboard a Farragut-Class Battle Cruiser that was sent to a special mission, where they were supposed to catch an Imperial Fleet off guard, and weaken their forces. Once they arrived, they started deploying hardpoints, and were preparing for a battle, which should be done swiftly, but what the Federal Navy didn't know, was that there was a spy among one of the higher ranks, that revealed their plans to the Imperial Navy, and they prepared a counter attack. Just as the Battle Cruiser was deploying the Corvettes, one Majestic-Class Interdictor has appeared close by. The crew got confused, but didn't pay it no mind, because they were disrupting the radars of the enemy. Little did they know, the ship they were supposed to ambush was battle ready. A moment of silence, as the two Interdictors unleashed their giant firepower unto the Battle Cruiser, dealing massive damage to the shields, and destroying many Corvettes in the process. The Battle Cruiser did put up a good fight, and even managed to destroy one of the Interdictors, but there was not a chance they could take both of them down and survive. The second Interdictor took down the Battle Cruiser, the entire crew was claimed as dead, but fortunately for the crew, a few of the higher ranking officers managed to evacuate before the ship blew up, inluding Shin. Once he got rescued by a freelance rescue squadron, he wanted to retire from the Navy, but once he got to the HQ, they didn't welcome him, they kicked him. He was confused, but didn't hold a grudge against the Navy, he figured out it might have been connected, the ambush of the ambushers, and that he vanished from the registry, among with the entire crew and all of the ships that were destroyed during the battle. So now, he was left with few credits and no place to call home. He visited the local bar, and then he saw it, an ad for the Pilot Federation, "Once you pay the entry fee, you'll be assigned a pilot instructor, and loaned a ship. After you graduate, you'll be granted privilege to the so called 'Starter Systems', which are secure environment for beginneer commanders." Once he heard all that, he ran to Apex Interstellar and requested a long-range shuttle to Dromi. Once you arrived, you had to pay the fee, how lucky was he, that his remaining credits were just enough to cover the fee.
The Beginnings of a new life
A year passed, and he was conducting the final tests, with his instructor on line, he succesfully completed the Pilot Training and gained the title of Commander alongside his new ship, the basic Sidewinder Mk I. He did a few courier data missions and gained his first pay, which totaled around 200k he bought a Viper Mk III and outfitted it for combat. Once he did all this, he started bounty hunting. He gained a fortune and had enough for a Keelback in no time. He traded and traded, but it wasn't effective, since he had little knowledge of trading. So he eventually turned back to his Viper and gained a few millions. But it wasn't paying back much, cause he could only fight smaller ships, with the Viper, so he tried other ways to gain money, and Surface Mercenary jobs caught his eyes. Since he already had some money and a lot of experience with man-to-man fighting, he tried it out, he started at the less important battles which gave him little money, but it was enough for him to get to know the ropes, since the technology was more evolved here, than in his homeland. He then eventually fought in much fiercer battles and got giant pay from it. He even fought alongside a commander, CMDR NAKEDnick. He saved up for a Python in no time, so he bought a python, and made it into a battle ship, that did pack a punch. Well, but that's everything you could say about the ship, it was easily beaten by plasma accelerators, and was really uneffective. Eventually it got refitted into a hauler, which he again, used for trading, but this time, it actually paid out. He found another trader, who invited him for a trade party, so he accepted it, the name of the trader was CMDR Woutheut. And soon, another commander came by, CMDR Bassemkattan, who was fairly a beginner, but was a nice guy. The three of them went for a trading route, which... well... wasn't really effective, after all of them traded for some time, they separated for the time being. After disbanding the party, he was still in a system far away from Irukami, his home. So he searched around and found a good trade route, which made him around 200 million credits in total, so he decided to go on an adventure. Bought an Anaconda, fitted it for exploration, and went for Colonia, a place he could start his life anew.
A life in Colonia
He arrived at Colonia, with relief, he docked his ship at Jaques Station, and finally, took a good nap. Once he woke up, he looked at his account balance, and realized, that he's as poor as they get, he had barely enough for a rebuy. Well, and since Colonia isn't a powerplay interest, there weren't many combat opportunities for him to make some cash, he resorted to a thing he hasn't tried for a long time, the thing being mining. Mining did take a lot of time, but the payout was high, or so he heard, and so he decided to give it a try. Lucky was he, that he went with the Anaconda, because the beauty in multipurposers is, that you can just swap out the internals, and you're done. Yes, he was poor, but if he broke the rule of thumb, he could afford the mining stuff. After outfitting his ship, he couldn't afford a rebuy, but what could go wrong when mining right ? He had 3 railguns and a decent shield, so he should be fine. After mining for a bit, he jumped into another spot, cause the one he was at was getting kinda dry. Little did he know, that he picked a very wrong spot to jump to. He jumped out of supercruise, and started deploying hardpoints, but then he looked at his radar, there was a ship behind him. He didn't think much of it, and continued to mind his own, but then he heard a sound, he looked into the comms menu, and there it was. "What a big haul, I'm surprised you made it this far.", he had hoped, that the pirate would let him off the hook if he dropped some cargo, so he tried dropping some, but it had no effect. A moment of silence, before the COVAS was screaming "Thermal Attack!". He instantly turned around and switched fire group to the one with railguns, wen't negative 100% on engines, and turned to the pirate. But once he has turned, he froze up... it wasn't just a casual pirate in an eagle or a cobra. It was a 'conda, he held the fire button as the railguns started charging, but his shields were dropping rapidly. The projectiles left the rails, but they inflicted little damage, so he retracted his hardpoints, and turned around, redirecting all the energy into engines and shields, he tried many ways to shake off the pirate, or evade the attacks, but nothing worked. His shields soon got breached, and the system security was not to be found. Cold blood was running through his veins, as he realized the situation he was in, the memories from his service started flooding back, he panicked, he was scared, his hull was dropping. The Frame Shift Drive was his only hope, it was almost ready to jump away, but... "Frame Shift Drive malfunction!" these words echoed through his cabin, as he was praying for his survival. He was as cold as death itself, when he heard those words, he instantly pressed the button again, but each time, the FSD turned off. Checked the module status, and what he saw, has assured him, that he wouldn't make this out alive, without an escape pod. FSD was at 0% and so were all the reinforcements and Thrusters. He hit the emergency eject button, and for a moment, he thought he won't make it, because the bulkheads were blocking the escape shaft. Fortunately enough, the escape pods are though, and he bursted through all the scrap. Fornunately enough, the escape was undamaged, and he made it into a closeby station. He couldn't afford a rebuy, but fortunately for him, he could take a loan, and rebuy his 'conda. He rebought his ship, and noted, that he won't mine anywhere near people. He went and mined far away from the Colonia Bubble, after filling up his storage, he returned and sold everything. That got him enough money for a rebuy, but his loan wasn't still fully gone. "There's no way i can make living in Colonia, i'm gonna enjoy this place and return back home" he told himself. He rigged his ship for exploring again, and went around Colonia. He found the unlucky story of CMDR Hyford. "I'd rather not end up like him", he thought, and after some more exploring, he decided he'll venture back home. But before that, he went back to Jaques and had a drink with the people in the bar, because of the terrifying event that happened earlier today, he got so drunk he passed out. After waking up, and spending yet another day in Colonia, he prepared for the journey. Filled his fuel tanks, repaired every component, got a new paintjob, loaded up his weapons, including his Aphelion, AR-50 and his trustworthy sidearm, Tormentor, nicknamed "Wrath of the Fallen". Dialed the control, told them to disengage the landing locks, and prepared for take off. Retracted his landing gear, and flew out of the airlock. "Thrusters, check. FSD, check. Power Distributor, check. Alright, everything seems ready, just to check the AFMU and i can fly off, towards my home." He cruised out a bit, so he wasn't mass-locked by the station, and hit the 'Engage Hyperdrive' button.
Helping hand(s)
Numerous hours have passed, and he finally arrived at Irukami. "An ally like you is always welcome, commander." How has he missed these words, landed at Lanchester Port and went to the bar, gotta celebrate his return. While he was celebrating, he got a message from his friend, CMDR Woutheut, if he wants some extra money. He accepted and asked for details. "I'm going to turn in some missions at Carverda, you just need to hop into a wing with me, and come to the system." The instructions were simple, so he readied his 'conda, and went for Carverda. He arrived, and enjoyed himself for a few days. After some time, he got message from CMDR Woutheut, saying he's ready to redeem the missions, so they both hopped into a wing, and started redeeming the missions. They both gained around 300 million from the missions, after that, CMDR Woutheut had more stuff to do, so they both went their own ways. But before that CMDR Woutheut mentioned being in a squadron, which interested him, so he asked for an invite. Once he joined their communication service he was welcomed by the warm community of the squadron. So he joined them as well. The squadron was named Techno-Union . He as well as all other recruits, started at the rank of techno aspirant. But he filmed his way up to the very first official rank of Private. He felt nostalgia, the same feeling he felt when he enlisted for the army back in the day. He started to fit in well, so he stayed.
A place to call home
He was still pretty poor, in comparison to other squadron members, but that didn't bother him, as they accepted him. A few days passed and CMDR Woutheut again, had another mission stack to redeem, this time, Shin asked if he could bring his friend along, CMDR DaRelAdalbertBro (the name is spelled incorrectly, as he made a mistake while signing his commander license), who has started flying just a few days ago. And Wout agreed. Unfortunately Adalbert wasn't present at the time, so only the two of them redeemed the missions and kept one unredeemed for Adalbert.
To be continued.
