Born outside of wedlock to Hadrian Augustus Duval and Montoya Espino. He is an illegitimate member of the imperial family.
His father having a short affair with Montoya during his trading days before becoming a hardliner of Nova Imperium, before marrying Lady Astrid Minevera-Duval.
An older half brother to Hector Mordanticus Duval, his name is Renzo Espino-Duval.
While technically a member of the imperial family he never sort acknowledgment of this several times removed title.

A physical altercation pressed a petition to have Renzo dishonourably discharged and executed.
It was only with the intervention of Tiana Fortune in the Guard that saw both her and Renzo discharged from both the Imperial Guard and Navy.
While Tiana was cited as being of non noble birthright as the reason for discharge, they knew it was not the true reason.
Both Tiana and Renzo found their respective places. Tiana establishing herself as a sort after Engineer, she gathered a strong core of former Guards to work with her. While Renzo found a place with Blackwood Scientific as an up and coming Commander.
