System : Thor's Eye
Well... we are here!... Getting close to the Thor's Eye B, the dark star... I don't have words to describe my excitement. I can see it in navigation panel but nothing is there. Absolute nothing!... As It was a cosmic prank.
Getting closer and closer to see something... The curiosity and the shiver within. 6....4..3.. light seconds far away from me... Then I started to count millionmeters... 3..2.. still going in... still nothing! That's when I hit the engine stop! A sphere shape started to emerge out of reflection. Dropped down from supercruise and we kept going in by half thrust.
I felt the crews thrill too, along with mine. The anticipation, which distance was close enough? We kept going... Eyes are wide open, senses are hightened but no reaction, no sound, everybody was holding breath, mesmerised by the perfection of the globe. And at the 80.7 km, we hit the body exclusion zone. This is as far as we can, and we would ever be...
At first, it felt like a mirror, reflecting the universe. We released the photo drone to take some pictures and the moment we saw what was behind us, we got excited even more... It wasn't the rest of the galaxy as it should be... It was the reflection of the reflection of our galaxy. Nothing is real down here, even the image of the galaxy was the echo of itself.
All the scientists on board are in a rush of calculating, measuring and experimenting. I however, I am stunned by this unusual sphere...
Untill completing the research and taking some satisfying photographs we will be staying here. And thanks to Finley, he figured our drone is also capable of taking 33.2 MPixel raw images. We will be using this option for detailed shots.
