A Whole Thousand Light Years Closer.

29 Jun 2017NickTheGrey
Having made the decision last night to forgo scanning entire systems on the journey back to the Bubble last night, I was able to clear another thousand light years from the total distance remaining. That puts us at just over 4500 LY away from Bennett Gateway in the Okinura system. With a bit of luck and a fair wind, I expect to get that down to just over 3500 by the end of today.

I think it safe to assume that the payout from this voyage is not going to be as high as I had originally planned. Decent systems upgrades for the ship are going to have to be very carefully selected from the funds I'll have available once I get back. I've considered a number of options for my first actions once the exploration data has been handed in. In no particular order:

  1. Work on my Trade rank.
  2. Work on my Combat rank.
  3. Work on unlocking my Engineer access.

It seems somewhat foolish to concentrate on the first two given the imminent threat that the Thargoids present. Yes, life goes on and there is still money to be made but I have a feeling that the Thargoids are going to be front-and-centre a lot sooner rather than later.

Access to the other Engineers feels more pressing - indeed, if I wish to obtain technology for the ship that will allow me to carry Unknown artefacts then I am going to need Professor Palin's assistance. I don't even know how close I am to that but it's going to take time.

I really want to keep the Anaconda. I've enjoyed working that ship for the past few months and it is really starting to feel like a home away from home. We've not fought in any battles as yet but I'm sure there'll be plenty of that in the not too distant future.
