Fighter club

Traveling the galaxy one often hears rumours of duels fought in space. But last night was no rumour, last night I joined fighter club. The evening began with a sort of induction where I joined them on an assassination mission. I've dealt with underground organisations before so I didn't ask who we were going to kill. I took my viper, they had various larger fighters. The poor mark never stood a chance. With the mission complete we docked at a nearby station and cashed our bounties. Then over to Tionisla for the mission reward. Here we all switched to sidewinders. We'd be fighting to destruction but it wouldn't be high stakes.
The first fight took place in a strange red valley on some nearby rock. A free for all, last ship flying. I nearly came out on top with my last opponent down to about 20% hull. But he was the better pilot this time.
Next we met up behind Brett High and fought some one-on-one duels. After an initial lead the tables were turned on me and I lost. I saw the next duel from a distance as I flew my replacement back around the station. Then the police intervened. None of us had a bounty but that didn't seem to matter to them. One of the wing wound up in a detention center, unable to get back to us in his sidewinder. He had to wait for another ship to be delivered to him.
We reconvened at a nearby tourist beacon and I fought one more duel. I won this one after resorting to bursts of silent running without flight assist. Half my hull had been blown away though so one of the others helped "return me to dock".
The evening ended with us teaming up once more and seeking bounties in our sidewinders. The Nav Beacon was quiet and heavily policed but we had better luck in the rings of one of the planets. I made about 3.4 million over the course of the evening. It would have been a little more if I hadn't lost some bounties for "taking a shortcut" back to Brett High. More importantly I got some much needed practice dog-fighting with my new flight controls. And more importantly still, I had fun.
