And I'm Not Ashamed to Admit It

There are all kinds of people flying around our galaxy.  Honest to dirty, rock-steady to crazed, down at the heels to obscenely wealthy, you never know who you're going to bump into out here.  There are a few common threads that connect us all, though.

For instance, buy a round for any pilot at your local watering hole (chronic substance abuse being one of those threads - yes, adrenaline counts too), and then ask them about the first ship they ever owned.  Bet you a ton of platinum that their First was a (t)rusty old sidewinder.  Love it or hate it, the sidewinder was our first pair of wings and our first heady taste of true freedom.  And whether you're Harmless or Elite, it takes balls of pure neutronium to entrust your life to one.

Sometimes I still miss the terrifying simplicity that was flying a sidey.

That said, I just took my new Python out for her maiden flight.  Even though the design is as tried and true as any in the 'verse - over 600 YEARS! - all of the modules were newly purchased and installed.  I always worry that I've forgotten something vital, or the subsystems will have an unforeseen conflict, or my math on projected power usage was a bit off.

Not only did the shakedown mission (a salvage operation one jump over) go flawlessly, but I've returned to the hangar a changed man.  Fact is, I think I'm in love with my Python.
Do you like it?
