First off, it's noisy. I'm accustomed to Lakon and Faulcon Delacey I suppose. And sure I've flown plenty of older models with POGO problems and the odd loose panel that rattles every time you're gliding into a gravity well. But the FAS's thrusters sound like they're howling a metre behind your head. That is, unless they're sputtering like they're about to go out altogether. Not a confidence builder. And using boost is just asking for a migraine, if the thrusters didn't manage on their own.
Even worse though is the heat problem. I outfitted a 2A fuel scoop so I wouldn't have to dock up to refuel as I fly around shopping for upgraded modules. The first time I tried to scoop as usual, she went heat critical in about 5 seconds... had to pop a heat sink and STILL couldn't fill the tanks... So the next jump I was careful about approaching the perfectly ordinary Class K star to try again - and AGAIN started to boil after just a few breaths. Could not find a way to do more than sip fuel without overheating (and AGAIN had to pop a heat sink). And it's not like I'm some greenie who doesn't know how to approach a star for refills. Unacceptable!
Did some digging online. Turns out Core Dynamics ships are really sub-par at power plant usage. Even class A power plants are prone to overheating in certain situations, such as fuel scooping.
So I've removed the scoop for now, but I do have a plan. Once I've upgraded the most vital systems to A rating, I'll pay Hera Tani another visit and see if she'll tweak the plant for lower heat emissions. I should still be in her good graces, she couldn't possibly have smoked all of those Kamitra cigars I brought the last time.
