In a Sentence:
After nearly a year of purgatory on an isolated ice planetoid, my luck has finally turned and I am Back In The Black.

I think any spacer who has ever been grounded for as long as I have will understand when I tell you how my eyes misted up as the sooty, battered sidewinder settled gracefully on Landing Pad 2.  I would characterize my emotional state as desperately hopeful.  In the eleven months and two weeks I've spent as a "guest" of Chem Holdings, I have managed to hoard most of my credit balance - no small feat when you have to pay for the air you breathe, and aren't in the employ of the only game in town.  At long last, I see my chance to buy my way off this bedamned iceberg.

Nespoli Barracks is ostensibly a training facility for Chem Holdings' new hires, but in practice it is staffed by the corporation's burnouts and lackwits who for some reason haven't quite earned their pink slip.  A few of these a-holes were also responsible for the destruction of my Cobra Mk. III the Pride of Lugh last January during a very unfortunate incident that I won't go into here.  Needless to say I haven't made any fast friends during my time here.  The only visitors have been robotic dropships that never even touch the ground, only spewing their cargo canisters across the surface before boosting away.  That is, until today.

I'd like to record my personal thanks to Captain Keith Linfoot, the owner of the above sidewinder who agreed to take me to the nearest station with a decent shipyard.  He drove a hard bargain, as any trader ought, but he knew and I knew that I would have given him every last credit I possess to be free of it.  I would have agreed to anything.  As it happens, though, he only charged me enough that he'll be able to buy HIS next ship come stationfall.

I haven't played E : D since early January, because while it was fun & super shiny I realized the game wasn't fleshed out yet.  Many features were still unpolished (i.e. the BGS).  So I put it aside for a year.  Now with the Horizons release, I am ready to experience the game anew!  I'm starting out with a half-ass fitted Cobra Mk. III and 150,000 credits.  The story above is inspired by an actual in-game experience with planetary landings involving trespassing, shooting up some drones, and getting sucker-punched by the nearby ground station - a hilarious learning experience!
