I found out I had a cousin on Li Qing Jao. She died in the attack. I never knew her, but apparently she was born on Earth too.
Never thought the whole NMLA attacks were gonna be sort of, personal.
I've spent the past week, either sleeping on my ship or ferrying people to the rescue ship nearby.
I'm gettin' real tired of these synthmeat packs, but it's better than nothing.
The station is still burning.
I guess there's hundreds, thousands of people still getting evacuated. What about the ones still there? Just, hiding out in rooms? Or scurrying around the wreckage and trying to avoid the fires or getting ripped into open space?
It's been....rough. Having to cart all of these panic-stricken people off a gigantic burning city. It was their home, now it's a hellish blaze.
I keep thinking about that one man and his daughter. People were pushing onto the boarding sections, and getting cleared to enter my ship. Some people started yelling at this one guy. I switched to the passenger cabin monitors; he had managed to get by some people and was rushing in with his daughter in his arms. People were pretty pissed. Yelling at him to get out, threatening him. He kept yelling - "just take her! Please just take her!". She was only maybe 7 or 8.
I got on the comms and told everyone to shut the hell up and there was still room, someone give the kid a damn seat or we aren't leaving.
They got quiet after that. Her dad strapped her in and kissed her and slowly walked off like he was just sending her to school.
It was like some cliche scene from a movie, but....it didn't feel like a movie.
She cried the whole trip over to the rescue ship. I don't know if her dad ever made it there yet, but I hope so.
I went back immediately and tried to see if I could spot him, but I don't know....
They better get this chaos under control soon, I need some rest......and some better food.
