I must say, Mercury is quite a boring planet.
I'm here in Ehrlich City for the time being, sipping on this mediocre bourbon and watching ships come and go.
Spent the past couple days roaming this endless horizon of dirt in my SRV, scraping together some minerals.
Maybe I've spent too long here, looking at the ground. Feels like I'm gonna have dreams about dirt for the next couple days.
Anyways, I'm waiting on some diagnostics and check ups on my Cobra. She's been flying weird ever since I tried to sort of..... "touch-and-go" pick up some salvage for a job.
It didn't feel like I hit the ground THAT hard, but...I don't think the mechanics over there need to know....
I saw the Galnet article while I've been waiting. Dredger Clans....
I've heard stories, but the recent buzz about them, no doubt sparked my interest.
If my old man ever came across a dream like that back in his days, I would've been born on one of those things.
To think, there's a whole gang of people out there riding the stars in a salvager's dream-ship!
Self-sustaining, going where they please, and coming across some big scores of scrap and tech? The nomad's life, that's some real living.
But I've also heard about their brutality. Not exactly the genial travelling gypsy types.
And those stories about the Phagos clan being cannibals? Weird.
There's really no glorifying it, they seem like pirates.
But...It got me thinking. What if I was able to contact them?
Would they let me join them? Would I even want to?
A peace-loving, scrap collecting, nomadic clan sounds wonderful,
but if they really are that dangerous and not much more than pirates, would I want to be a part of something like that?
Well, it sounds interesting and I'll be keeping my sensors up for more details.
But until I'm some lord of my own Dredger-class, looks like this guy's waving me over, I should be checking up on my poor banged up Cobra.
Hmm, and I don't recommend the bourbon on Mercury. Stick with a nice cold beer instead.
