[Anvil] "Hey son! Honestly surprised you picked up."
[Rhaazerus] "Hey dad."
[Anvil] "So I'm guessing you're still in Sol eh? My old stompin' grounds!"
[Rhaazerus] "Yeah, for now."
[Anvil] "And, I assume you've heard the news?"
[Rhaazerus] "Yeah . . . Thargoids."
[Anvil] "Yeah . . . Thargoids is right. They say those things are chasing after that megaship carrying Guardian tech."
Aaand, they say it's heading right for you apparently. So what are you gonna do?"
[Rhaazerus] "Not sure yet. I'm probably gonna leave, but . . . Some part of me wants to see what happens."
[Anvil] "You're an idiot Rhaaz! First sign of trouble, you better get your ass out of there, it's not worth sticking around!"
[Rhaazerus] "Jeez, alright, alright. Oh c'mon . . . You ever see a Thargoid though?"
[Anvil] "No! And I don't plan on it. Just, watch yourself out there kid. It's dangerous enough, roaming around like some homeless vagabond."
[Rhaazerus] "Hey! I make better money out here than you! Besides, those things are getting close to the Bubble.
You and mom better be ready to get out of Trevithick if you gotta."
[Anvil] "Bah, this rickety old station? Doubt they'd give a damn about us here.
Your mother and I were thinkin' about going to Dalton Gateway though, or maybe even planetside on A 5!"
[Rhaazerus] "Ha! A 5!? You guys couldn't afford it!"
[Anvil] "I've been savin' up! One less mouth to feed without you around."
[Rhaazerus] "Funny . . . Well, say hi to mom for me."
[Anvil] "Aye aye Commander. And you let me know when you find that big score of a life-time so I can retire. Love ya son, don't go getting eaten' by those damn space bugs."
[Rhaazerus] "Love ya too dad, don't get too bored sittin' in that rusty bucket. Hopefully they let a messy scrapper like you on A 5"
[Anvil] "Ha, they can't resist my charm! Later kiddo!"
[End Transmission]
Just got off the call with my old man.
It's on Galnet, it's on the screens in the station, people here are talking.
Thargoids, following the Alexandria megaship . . . possibly headed straight for Sol.
Thargoids. I mean, I've heard stories and I've been curious, but I've never seen one. And I don't think I want to.
I didn't mention it to him, but . . . I think I'm actually scared. Sounds stupid when I say it, but, these things are so . . alien.
The Thargoid threat seems like it overshadows all of these recent political conflicts, like some massive Lagrange cloud coming to sweep up humanity while we're busy bickering.
Maybe now's a good time to make my escape and leave the Bubble for a change. Though . . what if it "pops" and there's no Bubble to come back to?
Worse yet, what if these space bugs are hellbent on enslaving us and we end up under some Thargoid occupation, moving their larva around like worker ants or something!?
. . . I wonder how Thargoids breed? . . . Actually, you know what, gross I'd rather not think about it.
Ah well, I guess we'll find out eventually!
