CMDR Log - #014
Star Date - January 11th 3308
System: Sol
Planet: Moon - orbit
Location: Galileo Starport
Just spent the past week, trapped here in Galileo.
I had the bright idea of helping out with some station repairs and maintenance.
Those guys working on these starports are some real grease rats, crawling into spaces I never imagined existed on these giant things.
I ended up selling a few ships while I was here too. Can't say I'll miss them, I didn't really fly them much.
But now . . . I guess I'm up for a "promotion".
I'm gearing up for a brief operation with the Federal Navy, and it seems they'll give me the title of Warrant Officer if I'm successful.
Not that that means a damn thing in this galaxy. Auxiliary military are a dime a dozen, and everyone knows everyone who's been on both sides of these political conflicts.
I heard some guys at a bar in Federal space one time, bragging about how much they were getting paid by the Imperial Navy once they left Vice Admiral Juno Rochester's command to go serve under Admiral Brennus.
Allegiances change hands like credits. You can't expect any of these pilots to go anywhere but where the money is.
Either way, I've never liked working directly for "the big 3".
Being under the thumb of the Imperials, Feds, or even the Alliance has never sat well with me.
I don't ever want to give any superpower that large, that much control over what I do.
But here we are, my genius self ended up accepting this contract.
In the end, we all do what we must I guess.
Though, maybe I'm just rationalizing it so I can stomach the idea of working for these corpo suits.

[Audio log: Ship Comms-link with Federation Representative - Janice Caldrue]
[Janice] Ah, Greetings Commander. And on behalf of the Federal Navy, it is my pleasure to speak with you today.
[Rhaazerus] Yeah . . . A pleasure. So, What exactly can I help you with?
[Janice] Yes, well, we have noticed your recent work within Federal space and your continued commitments to our essential organizations and -
[Rhaazerus] Ah . . . well, I wouldn't call it "commitments" . . .
[Janice] Hmm, Very well. Your work with us Commander, has proven valuable and I am personally contacting you in order to present an opportunity that would benefit the Federation as well as yourself.
[Rhaazerus] That's how it always seems to work isn't it? So . . . I'm assuming you have some sort of job that needs doing?
[Janice] Correct.
[Rhaazerus] And why am I given the special treatment of being contacted about this?
[Janice] Well, your skills of item acquisition in space make you a suitable Commander to reach out to.
We've also noticed your current rank with us in the Federal Navy's auxiliary as that of uh *audible paper shuffling* . . . Chief Petty Officer it seems?
Well, you have been designated as eligible for a promotion Commander. Congratulations.
[Rhaazerus] Oh jeez, I honestly forgot about that rank thing.
Why do you guys even hand those out? You've got Commanders from all corners of the galaxy working for everyone these days.
I can just as easily go work for your opposition. I'm not your Navy soldier.
[Janice] Commander, you voluntarily signed on to our auxiliary.
And I don't think I need to remind you, that you are still a registered Federal citizen. Regardless of your . . . independent nature.
Besides, you should be grateful for the honorary titles and their benefits. Think of it as . . . perks for your affiliation with the Federation.
[Rhaazerus] Hmm, perks? Look I don't work for you guys for the honors. The credits are good and I don't have a strong reason to go elsewhere.
[Janice] Well those are your concerns Commander. We are not concerned with why you choose to work for us, we only hold to the confidence that the job will be done.
So . . . Can we count on you to take this opportunity or should I look elsewhere?
[Rhaazerus] Ah . . . fine. What are the details?
[Janice] Excellent. We have certain records that need to be reacquired as well as some competitors that need to be taken care of.
We have a contact there in Galileo Starport that will give you the full briefing. I'll be sending you the information, please make contact with her and you will proceed from there.
[Rhaazerus] Lovely. So, I'm stealing something and killing people in the name of the Federation?
[Janice] Commander, you are an associate and affiliate of the auxiliary Federal Navy. You do not represent us. You are not doing anything "in the name of the Federation."
And we are not held accountable for any complications or your breach of contract in regards to your personal actions during this operation.
[Rhaazerus] Right, right . . . "arbitration laws." Alright, thanks for the info. I'll get started then.
[Janice] Good to hear Commander. And should you be successful, congratulations, Warrant Officer Orzhov. Goodbye.
[Janice] ugh . . . these damn commanders are so -
