EXPLORATION LOG 11 : Well Worn & Weary

I found nothing around this waypoint to nudge me towards my uncle, so i'm leaving for the next marker. Again, I am skipping over any system that doesn't return something interesting on the entry honk, as uncle Creamy indicated in his expedition proposal he would be in a hurry to reach the nebula, stopping only to map and log, in support of the IES (Imperial Explorers society) and his crew.
I have stated before that new discoveries are few and far between, and I think fate was listening. This afternoon, Ninette warned me about the destination of my next jump; apparently I was about to exit next to a Blackhole.
Compared to the images I have seen, my discovery is not very interesting at all, but it's mine. This is the first Blackhole I have flown by. As a liner pilot, one is encouraged to avoid dangerous astrological bodies and anomalies. Fate was not done with me today, a few jumps along my path to the next waypoint, I came out next to the brightest star I have ever seen.
The light was so intense, even with the canopy darkening, I still had to squint and shield my eyes to see my instruments. Ninette informed me of its name, and I think it's the coolest pair of words that could possibly be associated with a star. Wolf Ray. Sounds like an interstellar law enforcement office from the hollo's; Ray Wolf, armed and dangerous.. . Any way, one eventually found a planet with enough gravity for bedding down, and a few Bios' to log before turning in. I had a bit of a surprise when I stepped out and looked back at the Ass.
All those light years have taken their toll on the paint work. A few days ago it was just a few panels here and there that had lost their coating and some edges were uncovered, but now it's most of the ship. I asked Ninette about it, and she says it was caused by all the flying between likely planets looking for my uncle that did it. S'pose I've never noticed how much wear and tear travel puts on a ship because I usually fly between stations, or have a maintenance crew onboard. Tomorrow, I better check the Ass's components; if the paint is almost gone, then I imagine everything else needs a bit of fixing. For now..
Goodnight log.

The Ass jumped plenty today, and many light years are behind us on the way to the next waypoint. I did stop here and there for a change of pace and to feel a bit of weight to my step. One rocky body was so warm under the star, I did all my Bio-Sampling from under the Ass to stop my head from baking.
As I said, today was more about racking up light years rather than gathering data and samples, but I did tell Wiggy I would make his investment in the Ass worth while and I can only do that by doing what explorers do.
Tonight I rest on a large empty plain with about two Gs and a moderate tempter under the star, so tomorrow's jog will be smooth and uninterrupted according to Ninettes' geo-scan. As this planet is tidally locked, I'll have to fly to the dark side for now.
Goodnight Log.
