Flight Summary/Commander's Remarks:
It wasn't much of a work day today. It was more of a training and testing day as I hired a new hand for the 'Olympus Mons' brand new Imperial Fighter. Recently my ship and crew have been having more than the usual number of encounters with pirates and unlike my Type 6 'Hermes II' evading an interdiction in a Type 9 is not a simple feat. So I made the choice to lose about 28 Tons of cargo space and. 37 LYs of jump range to arm my ship with three class 2 laser turrets, a fighter, and several other small utilities. Transiting through Imperial Space to independent space after outfitting the 'Olympus Mons' with some defense made me feel like maybe I overreacted as Imperial Space is the safest place in the Galaxy, and that maybe I made the wrong choice in sacrificing cargo space and jump range for defenses. But after jumping into independent space with a load of agriculture supplies my thoughts changed. I was interdicted while transiting a shipping lane and forced to submit, however instead of being forced to high wake I decided to test the new defenses. And well I can say that I made the choice turning my ship into an armed freighter. While it may not be the most powerful ship, she is more than capable of defending herself from smaller ships and buying more time to escape.
