Commander's Log, aboard the Helios SkimmerCurrently docked on the DSSA Kraut
It's strange. One day, you're in the center of The Bubble and expect to have ships everywhere. Everything's busy. Everything's bustling. Then, you head out into the black and you suddenly don't see anyone, anywhere. Nothing but empty star systems, as far as the eye can see.
And then you jump into a system and a contact appears on the screen. A carrier is out here. Not one of the ones that I expected, either. I'm jumping along a route that takes me to several of the DSSA carriers, after all. But I didn't expect to see one orbiting a blindingly bright white star, 9000 ly from the center of the bubble. Yet, here it sat.

The Orion's Shoulder wasn't something I was going to pass up. I docked, did my repairs, resupplied, hell I even took a nap. Still, it was time to move on not too long after that. After all, I didn't want to be aboard if the carrier should start making jumps back home. I've heard of other Commanders making that mistake and ending up hundreds of jumps from where they were.
So, I bid farewell to my oasis and off I went. Jump after jump, through almost exclusively monotonous and boring systems.
I finally got to the Kraut, just a few minutes ago. Handled all my upkeep... had a few techs ask if I wanted a fresh coat of paint. I looked the ship over and, yeah it was rough... but that didn't bother me a bit. However, I did spend a few thousand space bucks to fix some things that got toasty when I got to close to a star's exclusion zone and got ripped out of supercruise. The usual things that happen. Had plenty of AFMU supply left, so I wasn't worried, just annoyed at my own carelessness. I can't afford too many mistakes like that, on my next leg.
Getting to the Dryman's Hope is going to be like going from Earth to Colonia. And no chain of stations to ease the journey. I'll check to see if the Morning Star or the Spartacus have moved into their positions in the Hawking's Gap and Centaurus Reach, but I'm not holding my breath.
I can make it.
And maybe I'll find something interesting along the way.
End log.
