Where it all began...

Well, damn. That's a hell of a sight.
I grew up right next to this place and, until today, never had the thought to go see it with my own eyes. I mean, everyone in the Federation has the image of Earth shoved down their throats weekly, yeah... but to actually be out here, in a totally quiet cockpit, just... looking at it?
And, not only that, the first sight I get of it is the continent our ancestors walked out of, three hundred thousand years ago. And our older cousins almost two million years before that. And here I am, in a spaceship that can take me to black holes and neutron stars and nebulae and the edge of the great galactic void...
And the thing I'm most awestruck by is this speck of blue and green, around a nondescript star, in the middle of one of the galactic arms.
But it's our nondescript star. Our little speck of blue and green. It's where it all began. Where we fought, died, lived, grew, nearly annihilated each other several times and then... sailed away from. Some of us never to return.
Well, one person did. Just to see what 'home' looks like.
All things considered, it looks pretty okay for the beating we gave it over the millennia. And, if we survived all that we put ourselves through on this little planet, we can probably survive anything.
Today was a good day.
End log.
