I somehow miscalculated what it would take to reach my goal, but I'm too excited to worry about it currently. Maybe it was due to first discovery bonuses? I thought they didn't count towards my rank, but that must be it. I also manged to hit Exploration Elite IV just from all the system jumps and planet scans while looking for Stratum. I think by the end of tomorrow night I'll be all Elite V! Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself. Here's what happened:
I docked at Tir last night and had been out so long that I just wanted to talk with people. So, that's what I did. I hit the bar, had a fizzy lemondade drink, and socialized. I got too caught up in the moment and forgot all about turning my data in. I went to sleep knowing that I could just do it in the morning after a hot shower. I turned my data into Vista Genomics expecting to be exactly halfway from Exobiology IV to V when I was alerted that I had reached rank Elite V! The guy behind the counter was losing it. On one hand, he just got a TON of data. On the other, he saw a commander nail Elite V with his final page of data that was sold. I know the Colonia area has some visitors, but not too many so seeing Elite V ranks must be pretty rare out here.
Well, that's that. I'm currently cruising around scanning earthlikes at what seems to be an incredible pace. I'm sure it's nothing special, but after having to swoop down onto each planet, scan 3 samples of Stratum, and then exit the planet's gravitational pull for my next jump, it certianly seems faster. Looks like my vacation is coming up sooner than I thought!
Commander VladmirMcDoogle signing out."
