Two days ago, I got proposed to take part in an expedition to Beagle Point, taking place next summer. It's organized by some Alchemy Den members, and will be called (for now) Beagle Madness. Why Madness ? Going to beagle is easy now that we have carriers, and increasingly better ship range, thanks in part to the engineers.Well that's because the idea is to go there with a small silly ship not originally designed for exploration.
So... The thing is I was starting to outfit the Rebecca Heineman for racing. And now I really want to go with her... Aaaaah ! Damned be Alchemy Den and all the messy frens ! Now I'm part of this !
I decided to go with them. This motivated my next goal: getting FSD Boosters on my ships. These are modules made from an extinct civilisation's technology. It could give my Courier a tasty bonus of almost 8Ly jump range.
Getting those is not an easy task. I bought localization data to some old grumpy pilot at Ray Enterprise in GQ Virginis, that allowed me to go to a planet where I should find the materials I needed. The planet is a whopping 1500 Ly from the bubble, so I flew there with my dear Amelia Earhart. I get to the rocky world indicated by the map, and sigh in relief when my DSS eventually detects a "Guardian signature". After a quick flyby, I drop the SRV in complete darkness. Not a sound, not a thing moving. The place is kinda creepy.
Arriving at the site, I collect some sort of old relic, and charge up dome pylons, as I was told by the man that sold me the location of this planet. One thing he didn't told me was that would wake up antic sentinels with some high-tech weapons that do not even seems to be made out of ordinary matter. To be perfectly honest, blue glowing shard-shaped missiles resemble more some mystical arsenal from the legends of Atlantis (an old tale from Earthlings written at least 3500 years ago) than what I would imagine an extinct civilization would throw at me. (that sentence feels odd, doesn't it ?)
Despite the weird and noisy Atlant junkyard dog, I could successfully gather everything I needed to get several FSD Boosters for my fleet. All I had to do was buying some shock mounts, trading for focus crystals, and get back to Ray Enterprise where someone can assemble this gem. It's been a very long day, but once I'll have my FSDs engineered on both the Amelia Earhart and the Rebecca Heineman, I will be more than ready !
Thinking about that, that means I'll be seeing Elvira Martuuk again...
