The Maelstrom

Hello again. Guess I'll fill you in on today's events.
....So after I went and 'explored' the bar (and its drinks) on Explorer's Anchorage, I went to check up on Packie. When I arrived at his hangar his ship was currently undergoing the process of having a ship kit installed, as well as having some bright red lights fitted all over the hull. I asked Packie what the hell he was doing and he just shrugged and said "I've gotta spend this exploration money on something."
I mean... fair. It's his ship. If he wants a glowing red hull and a spoiler on his Anaconda, that's up to him I guess. Still wasn't expecting it though.
After this we went to Sagittarius A* and... just wow... I was expecting it to be impressive, but I'm still astounded... It was beautiful, enthralling even. I just flew around it for a bit taking in the sight. To think that that thing... that Maelstrom is what this whole galaxy is centred around is amazing. Looking at the gravitational lensing was beautiful, and it's so amazing that I could see the exact same point of space 3 times. I'm suprised though that it doesn't have an accretion disc, you'd expect it to have one.
Anyway... after that we plotted a route to Colonia with a brief detour to a system that Packie had discovered a while ago. He didn't tell me what it was, just that "It's special." It wasn't far from Sagittarius A* - about 3 jumps - so I thought "why not?" and we set off towards it. When I dropped in I was immediately met with a heat warning. The damn FSD had dropped me in right between two bloody stars. I popped a heatsink and accelerated straight out of there, looped around and immediately saw why Packie called this system special. It was two close binaries within probably 100-200ls of each other, the thing was basically a close quaternary. Packie just laughed when I told him what happened while he dropped in, said the same thing happened to him when he first arrived.
After that we carried on our route to Colonia, and honestly nothing that eventful happened. We found a few water worlds, an ammonia world, and made about 8 neutron boosts, so now we're stopping for the night. We're about halfway to Colonia, just on the edge of the Empyrean Straights before Odin's Hold, and honestly I don't think I'll ever get over how full of stars the sky is out here...
Well... before I go on another tangent about how the sky feels so packed, I should probably end this log. I've got a bunch of repairs to do, since one of those neutron stars really battered up my modules.
See ya!
