Exploration Log: Entry 4 Self Reflection

My flight computer was plotting routes on a wrong setting. I was wondering why I was only making jumps with a distance of around 1 lyr. Now I knew why.Still decided to keep it on the same setting though. After all, I wanted to be an explorer. To reach out to the unknowns in the void and maybe... Just maybe... Leaving my mark on this incredibly vast galaxy.
I mean, I may not have stumbled upon Takurua in the first place, had the flight computer was set on the correct setting.
Now, getting to meet new people and go to new places are definitely exciting. However, it also gave me plenty of time to myself and think.
I thought about what's to come. I thought about my favorite holo-show. But most frequently, I thought of the place I used to call home.
I was born in a corporate station far from the controls of the Federation. Yet it's not hard to find similarities between the cultures of an average federal station and the cultures of my station.
...The stark resemblance truly terrifies me for some reason.
We were raised in a clan-like Corporation that built its foundation on a system of caste.
This means, the lifestyle you were born into is essentially the only birthright you were entitled to. If your father was a mechanic, you might also become a mechanic. If your mother was a flight control officer, you might also become a flight control officer. The choices were always in front of you, of course. But they are a set of choices predetermined by not yourself, but by your parents; Under the guises of free will.
I call it "guises", because these choices were, in reality, generated through sets of criteria that were indoctrinated upon the population through generations of political propaganda and mass media influences.
Just like the Federation, no?
