The Sentinel Fulcrum, 12: Complication

Ah, dammit... Looks like it was about some real wine, destroyed by cold, or something like that. This Imperial had a collection of expensive wines on his mining ship... Oh, that's so Imperial! He was doomed to face complications on his mining trip... Nevertheless, I was seriously thinking this guy lost his mind or even was..posessed? controlled? Uh. Okay. Let's pretend that everything is fine, maybe I'll even keep myself out of thoughts about looking at his behaviour closer. Being ready to hit his head with the rifle stock, tie him up, drag back to Marshmallow and jump the heck out of here, to bring him to the hospital. He even...uh, bowed. And apologised. Ow.
And I just..sighed. Maybe out of relief. Maybe because you can't effectively facepalm in vacuum, wearing a helmet. Ah, we have to restore the atmosphere, so I may freely facepalm myself to concussion. And the palm, yeah.. Took my hand off the grip, letting the rifle hang loose on the belt..Uh. Don't get me wrong. I didn't want to shoot the guy, safety was on anyway, just point it at him maybe... To shake him enough. To make him come back to reality. From what was looking like..losing the control over yourself. And he was angry.
Must admit, I was wrong too. But, well, that reaction was strange enough to make me believe he's really not okay. I was trying to..come up with words..that wouldn't contain something like 'what the heck happened to you'. Then added though, that he should really tell me if he feels strange, feared or even hallucinating. Walking onboard the ship that was abandoned for two years, and that weird glow around it... It might be hard to process properly.
Really, should go and visually inspect the drive and power plant machinery before trying to wake them up. While Creamy will be at the command bridge, restoring his specialised personal COVAS. And also, maybe, perhaps, I'll get to know what's the source of that glow...
So, I had to go down to the technical section of the ship. Walking there, along the dark corridors, with only a little helmet flashlight... Wasn't the most effective way to inspect the machinery. And I never worked with Anacondas before... Had a Cobra in my early flying days, however, and all those Faulcon deLacy drives and powerplants were similar, those were just big. So... Looking good so far. No leaks, no ice except the usual thin frost, no visual damage... And I can't do much more in that darkness. Anyway, the usual system boot sequence includes self-test.
"Looks good", I said, hoping that the comms are working fine and signal can get through so much bulkheads and reinforcement packages. I'll better leave this place and go to the bridge as well to control the startup and system self-test.
And that glow... Hmm... I've noticed that it wasn't so saturated, it was almost invisible, when you was inside the ship, but... Some walls in the mid-section were like..glowing stronger than others? What's..this? Ah, damn. I'll better help him with restoring the power and activating the drive, and then I'll get the hell out of here...
Just a bit more of those long dark corridors to walk through, ah, that's so weird romantic, hah...
