The Paresa Conflict and the Fist of Fury

So since my last entry, lots has happened. Following on from gathering data for Winters, my son and I heard the news of the conflict over in Paresa, so we both signed up for the Federation and made our way over to Dyson City and Koishika to prep for the coming battle. I don't pledge any loyalty to anyone, so I was simply taking a gamble here that the Feds would win. As we all know, I was wrong. I should've played both sides, but I always knew there was a chance we'd lost and earn nothing other than the bonds and bounties we could pick up in the CZ's. I had decided I'd use the opportunity to practice some fixed weapons fighting.Enter my Chieftain - The Fist of Fury. I've fitted out with 3 fixed large plasma accelerators engineered for efficiency with dazzle shell and target lock breaker experimentals on 2. My 3 smaller hardpoints I've fitted with gimballed MC's engineered efficient with autoloaders on 2 and incendiary on the other. My son fitted his Viper with some additional HRP and MRP and we set off together for our first CZ.
I was expecting to be destroyed quickly enough as I'd never used fixed weapons before, but the PA's are something else. While my targeting left a lot to be desired, I found the PA's were fantastic at stripping shields within 2 or 3 shots on target, following up with the mult's and enemies were soon being dispatched with glee. I think having my son zooming around in his quick viper helped greatly. Teamwork makes the dream work right!? This theory was proven to be true when I attempted a CZ by myself later that evening and found myself running with my tail between my legs after taking on a Vulture. The Vulture seemed to run rings around me. Upon making my escape, I promised to get myself a Vulture!
Over the next week or so we both faught valiantly in the CZ's of Paresa, we got to see some amazing things going down. A double capital ship battle was intense. We won many battles, but we lost the war. So we left Paresa with nothing but the money we made from our bonds and bounties, but an increase in combat rank is no bad thing, and my fixed weapon skill is improving thanks to forcing myself to use them. I'm more and more toying with FA off, at least for spells during battle. The increased turn rates help stay on target longer.
I've also purchased a Vulture - named Cu Chulainn, and it's a joyful ship to fly and fight in. I'm still getting used to fighting with it. I've fitted 2 large burst lasers and engineered to G3, but my aiming still needs lots of work. I had to abandon a bounty last night as I simply couldn't finish him off while his shields were down. The whole process was taking too long so I had to go to bed. I'll head back out today for more practice.
