13 JUL 3308: CMDR Dawnstar: First Entry

In all my time navigating the black I can't say I've ever had the urge to document my adventures. I suppose now is as good a time as any, so here we go. It's 22:33 and I'm here in the bar at Levi-Montalcini, the Timbalderis system. I docked here to pay the material trader a visit and exchange some of my manufactured goods. I need to make sure I'm flush with components before I make my rounds to the various engineers I need to visit. Now, normally I wouldn't worry to much and just get what I needed when I needed it. However, I just spent the last two weeks out in and around HIP 22460. You know the place. You cant even open Galnet without reading or hearing something of what's happening out there. It started as a simple job delivering medicines, military components and then guardian artifacts. Rarely have I turned down an opportunity to get paid, but after the Thargoids hit the system things started to get a little hairy.
There's nothing quite as unnerving as being hyperdicted. Of course, I've been hyperdicted and scanned before. My first contact with the Thargoids was out in the Pleiades, Heh... I was on my way back from a penal colony after a little mishap with system authorities during a pirate hunting contract I took on. Not one of my proudest moments. I wrote it off as a funny story I could tell over drinks. It wasn't until I took work doing search and rescue at one of the stations that fell into the planet it orbited that I got to see first hand the kind of destruction these bugs were capable of. After I completed my grim work I made a decision. If I ever had to take up the fight against these aliens I wanted to be prepared and I'd be damned if I was going to make it easy on them. So I made my way to Shinrarta Dehzra, picked up a Chieftain for a good price, unlocked some necessary Guardian tech, got her outfitted and engineered. Cut back to this last week. The DRS False Priest and I made our first contact with the Thargoids in combat. To say the very least It was... intense, and... I think I enjoyed it. I've been in a lot of scraps over the years but nothing got my blood pumping like staring down the barrel at a Thargoid Interceptor. I've fought battles around the FNS Fortitude, the INV Audacious Dream, and various other skirmishes around the system. My First few engagements were touch and go with there being no shortage of differences between human and anti-xeno combat but I started to get the hang of things. Before I left the system I wracked up 111 confirmed kills. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't eager to get back out there.
That brings me to why I'm sitting in this bar. I've made plans to engineer and outfit an FDL as well as retrofit the DRS Grim Mercy, my crusader. Hopefully I make it back in time to help keep the bugs at bay and I hope I don't get too familiar with the rescue rangers. hahaha! In any case, I still have a few more stops to make before the ships are finished and my drink is empty so I guess this is where I sign off. I may do this again. Heh, it felt almost therapeutic.
Until next time.
