Humanity destroys everything they come across.

It is all over our history. Wars, exploitation, carelessness. Thinking we own everything, and that there is no limit to what we can take, or do.

We nearly destroyed our own planet through it. First, we started carelessly taking from it, throwing slabs of rock or concrete on every piece of ground we could find, pretending that it had infinite resources. Or that it would be a problem for future generations to take care of.

Then we started fighting each other over it, over exploiting the world. Abusing less-advanced populations when we inevitably came to their land and said "This belongs to us now, hand your things over and we might let you live". How many cultures were destroyed or nearly wiped out through this... this greed.

The locals fought back, of course. At least, some of them. And what did we do? Shoot them in the face. Or stabbed them. Whatever was the flavor of the century. Not even a question posed to whether they were fighting back due to repression and plundering of what was rightfully theirs.

And then came the world wars. The first and second of them... still recoverable. Some of the second even led to a few of us realizing that cooperating instead of leaving someone out prevented conflict. What a magical idea, right?

Of course, it was only to last for so long. Between the worsening resource availability and limited liveable space on the planet, in large part thanks to climate change caused by careless exploitation for the previous two centuries, some idiots started lobbing nukes all over the place, and damn near killed the whole planet alongside them(selves). Except for the former United States, of course. They built so many guns that, apparently, none ever made it to them. Or so the history records state it, anyway.

And what did we do when that war made us cooperate to survive, and led us to develop space travel? We went right back to fighting each other like cave men, except the sticks and rocks turned into high-speed projectiles, advanced laser weaponry and starships. We still are, even over a millennia later, and if the territory is just some goddamn worthless rock of ice so far out of the habitable zone, not even the most extreme of species would bother living on it.

Then we repeated the whole thing again with the barnacles. Saw them, decided it couldn't possibly be someone else's, and started taking things, to the point where the barnacles stopped producing anything. Naturally, the Thargoids showed up and said, "We don't like that". So we, of course, decided to declare war on the locals and started blasting. For the second time, to make things worse. And again, no questions asked.

Look at where that led us. Gigantic motherships that we practically have no hopes of even thinking about confronting directly, an invasion of the Bubble, from a second failed genocide attempt, all because the Thargoids defended what was rightfully theirs. And I'm fucked up beyond all belief. Or relief, for that matter, slowly turning into a thing that is neither Thargoid, nor human. At least... on the inside. So far, my skin hasn't turned into a weird, pale green color, and I hope it's staying that way.

But none of this would have happened if we didn't behave like the universe's biggest idiots. Or humans, I should say. I don't know if I even am still 'human'(some would say I'm not). Or even want to be, seeing how they just keep fanning the flame. Fighting back against... us, without even bothering to think. Just look at what they are doing at the spire sites, slaughtering thousands upon thousands of Orthrus interceptors in the name of... what? Defense? That isn't defense. If this wasn't a war, I'd call it fucking murder of non-combatants that are looking after our

Why am I saying our? I don't want to be on the side of the Thargoids. But I don't want to be on the side of this humanity either.

my head hurts

Maybe the Thargoids are right to do them what they are. Someone needs to teach them a lesson. Even now, they continue to fight and shoot at everything simply because they don't understand. They interfere with plans beyond their reach, thinking themselves important. They are not.

If they will not learn, we will make them understand.
Do you like it?
