Titan Survivor Rescued
29 Dec 2023Kasumi Goto
December 2, 3309The rogue Titan survivor, Kira Goto, has been rescued from Titan Hadad following a successful attempt to retrieve her, through an initiative led by an independent anti-xeno force, alongside transport vessels provided by Aegis, and several volunteer pilots.
The rescue bid was launched on November 25 into HIP 30377 - where the Titan is located - from the Koleti system, and primarily aimed to recover Kira. She was suspected to be located on that Titan after her ship was found adrift in the Omumba system, with an audio log indicating that she threw off the control the Thargoids attempted to exert on her, but fell unconscious as a direct result of the struggle, and was then abducted. The initiative also returned several thousand more bio-storage pods alongside Kira's, not long after her abduction.
Aden Tanner, working as an independent specialist for Aegis, said the following:
"On behalf of Aegis, I would like to extend our gratitude to all pilots who took part in this endeavor. Operating near a Titan is always a risky task, and this operation was no exception to that - particularly given the importance the Thargoids clearly place on Kira, and the size of the fleet that was involved in rescuing her. All pilots who participated performed admirably, including those that did not return. Any relatives they may have will be informed accordingly, within short delays. Particular thanks go to Ina Muir from the Anti-Xeno Defence Force for personally overseeing the operation, and going far above and beyond its intended goal.”
"It has also been brought to my attention that a group of unknown vessels attacked the fleet as it prepared to leave the Titan's location. An investigation is ongoing to determine possible suspects, but I will state again that hindering Aegis through attacking its assets or valued personnel is considered a criminal offense against all three superpowers."
An inquiry was made for more details on Kira's status, which was met by a statement from Alba Tesreau, sent from her head office at the Aegis headquarters in Duamta.
"Kira is currently located on rescue ship Cavell in the Koleti system. She was found unharmed and with no obvious superficial signs of further alteration in a bio-storage capsule like those of other Titan captives, but remains unconscious and in a coma for a week now, with brain activity levels near-zero. Medical personnel are currently performing intensive medical tests to determine if any further changes were made to her biology by the Thargoids, or whether she risks spreading any pathogenic agents. Thus far, the results appear to be promising, though the same cannot be said for her condition, unfortunately."
"Most of her brain appears to be entirely inactive and at least partially damaged, with her cortical implant remaining in a hibernation state, showing no activity or attempts at repairing the damage. There is no telling when she may wake up, or if she ever will, but necessary quarantine and safety protocols are in place for the event that Kira does - for her own protection, and that of others. Hopefully, it will be her that answers."
No comments by Azimuth Biotech on the resolution of the situation have been received, and all queries, both about Kira's recovery and the response to the claim that she assisted in the destruction of a mercenary company assisting in Azimuth asset recovery, have been left unanswered.
It is also uncertain how the Thargoids may react to this development, but it will likely further hinder their invasion plans, particularly around Titan Hadad, which human defense forces are currently planning to target in the next attempt to isolate a third Titan*, after Taranis and likely success at Leigong. Perhaps the Titan's Thargoids had hoped to utilize her to avoid such a fate, denying them a vital strategic asset on top of preserving many human lives.

*Some of that OOC stuff - this was at time of writing, given the date at the start of the article, so we didn't know Titans even could place an alert yet.
And excuse a bit of timeline mess, if you’d like. The realities of posting got in the way of following it as I originally intended, so… hope you don’t mind just getting the dates for when it occurred.
