Rescued Titan Survivor 'Deemed Safe'

December 15, 3309Aegis has shared an update on the recently rescued Titan survivor, Kira Goto, who has woken from her coma and is now considered free of Thargoid control.
The statement was shared to newsfeeds by Alba Tesreau, head of Aegis, and aimed to reassure the public about any potential threat posed by Kira:
"Kira awoke from her coma on December 9, and has been under strict surveillance since. Several tests, both psychological and medical, performed by the team supervising her, have revealed that she appears to be free of any direct control or influence exerted by the Thargoids. Scans of the cortical implant and surrounding tissue show signs of an immune response to their presence, indicating that her immune system was utilized by her to sever or weaken its bond by damaging it or the link formed to her brain, without causing any irreversible harm."
"Sadly, that is as much good news as there is. Her brain functions are greatly impaired, in part thanks to the implant only being partially active at this time, leaving her with little to no memories of herself, and her mind trapped in a child-like state, with often slow response times to external stimuli, though she appears capable of basic actions, speech and recognition. I am assured by the medical staff of rescue ship Cavell that they are working at their best to ensure her comfort and attempt to improve her state, which may also prompt her implant to repair and reactivate further, in turn enabling the use and repair of currently inactive or damaged sections of her brain."
"As a measure of precaution, however, Kira is still kept isolated from the other Titan abductees, in a quarantine cell within a separate section of the ship. While we have no reason to believe her presence would have any effect, as there has been no demonstrable alterations by the Thargoids discovered on them, it appears preferable to err on the cautious side, particularly while we are continuing to evaluate her mental and physical state. It is also yet to be determined how much she might still be connected to the hive mind. While the link is active, for now, it remains less intense, and she appears to be entirely in control of herself. Once her state allows, she will be returned to Duamta for further specialized care and examination."
Friends of Kira, and any family members or relatives that may exist despite her records stating none left alive, will be able to visit within the week, as she no longer appears to pose a threat. It is hoped that exposure to individuals playing a part in her life in the past will assist in her recovery by triggering memories held by her brain, or preserved within her cortical implant. While her recovery or the state she will be in when it ends are not yet certain, it may well hold true that she has freed her mind from the Thargoids, but at a price.
Any further noteworthy or critical updates will be shared if and when appropriate.
OOC - This is likely going to be the last of these 'news style' articles for a while - hope you enjoyed that little experiment of mine with them, though.
