Hi Cmdrs,Tonight the Carl Sagan has been sent on ahead as usual leaving me 27 jumps to reach it. There are much fewer stars in the region of space I’m in at the moment so the Cutter seldom jumps to its full capacity mostly jumping around 20 ltyrs at a time rather than the 25 ltyrs it’s capable of. This is me leaving the Carrier in system and getting underway before it jumped.
Not a lot has happened again tonight but I have found a Tritium hotspot and very nearly filled the hold before running out of limpets. I’d just jettisoned 10 limpets when all the Collector Limpets decided to expire, typical.
I did get my camera out and snap a couple of images whilst mining though. Stay away from the light . . .
This composition shows the Cutter, asteroid ring, planet with its clouds, the Galaxy off to the right and the suns light breaking through the dust in the belt producing what I call God Rays.
Having finished mining I carried on and found this glorious looking planet to land on for the evening. I headed for the edge of that obvious crater . . .
Close to the ground now and this image shows not only the rim of crater I’m nearest to but off in the far distance you can see the rim extending round, this is a vast crater this close up. There’s also some atmosphere in the top left corner which can be seen.
Now I didn’t realise straight away that this planet had 1.9G gravity so I was going to have to be careful setting the Cutter down so I adopted a very shallow angle and reduced speed drastically. Since I was flying around the extremely uneven crater rim I turned inward to look for flatter ground, there wasn’t much but I did eventually set her down gently in a fairly flat area.
