Whales Wails, a Space Tale of Space Whales

I've heard stories of the creatures of Earth, the life on that distant dream. I've heard the planet is the greenest in the galaxy, more abundant with life than Colonia is with stars. I've heard you can't walk 10 meters without encountering a family of rabbits or stray cats. It's not just the land that is abundant with life, no, it's the sky! The water! The very thought of Earth is brimming with life! Yet, we left it.Out of all the creatures on that pale blue dot, one interests me the most. Blue whales. Said to be bluer than a neutron star and longer than a sidewinder, I can't begin to imagine what magnificent beasts they are. Oh my, and their sounds! I visited a data library recently and they had recordings of their magnificent sounds! Beautiful songs, echoing throughout the deep deep blue. I even managed to get a download to listen to on my ships through some... less than legal means.
Listening to their songs while conducting research on Thargoids, I heard a shocking similarity. The Thargoid’s howls, their screams, their warnings of danger, sound just like the wail of a whale. As if these xeno creatures couldn't get more beautiful. As if these life forms couldn't get more interesting. As if these beings couldn't get more... sad. Such stunning creatures we humans hunt, so similar to those on our home planet yet we cast them out as though they are demons.
As humans, we fail to remember we are not the only living things. It is not only us who feel pain, not only us who cry and weep but others as well. Wherever Thargoids come from I believe we were there too. Not quite humans, but something similar. In this magical place, the whales reigned supreme. Conquering the land and sea, the sky and stars, just as we did, but when the Thargoids met us they did not wish to attack us, wish to slaughter us as if we were farm animals. No, they were simply curious. Curious as to what we were, curious as to what we wanted, wanting to know if it was true there was more life than the Guardians in this universe, and we failed them.
The Mycoid virus, the Proteus Wave, all devilish attempts to wipe out these beautiful whales, and for what? For resources? For precious metals in a vast galaxy of infinite gas and dust? I wish the people would realize it is not the Thargoids that want harm, it is not the Thargoids pushing other sentient species to extinction, it is not the Thargoids that are evil, it is us. It is humanity that is worse than any monster and worse than any virus, not the thargoids. Yet, we won't accept that. We'll keep pushing on, and we'll keep insisting we were the ones made to conquer the galaxy.
WE WILL DIE TRYING TO PROVE TO OURSELVES WE ARE NOT MONSTERS, AND WE WILL DIE LIARS.
