CMDR Eldrich Thames Logbook, entry #3, February 08, 3303

I've written about me and my ship. This entry will deal with the place I chose as my (kinda) permanent base of operations.
Ali Ring is a Coriolis spaceport orbiting the first moon of first planet in the Kokojina system. Kokojina 1 is a gas giant blessed with floating ammonia-based lifeforms, wich gives it its yellow-ish green hue. Kokojina 1A, the moon Ali Ring orbits, is an unremarkable ball of mostly ice, so small and low-density it barely has any gravity.
This spaceport is home to bustling manufacturing centers specialized in building high tech consumer gadgets and highly specialized industrial, agricultural, medical and military equipment and its spare parts, which curiously is highly demanded by almost every neighboring system. Because of such high demand, Ali Ring also has its own foundry to produce most of the refined metals and raw materials it needs, while also providing the metal required in heavy industry and military endeavors elsewhere. This prosperity brings food to the tables of seven and a half million people.
Ali Ring is currently under the control of the United Kokojina Future, an organization that promotes democratic values and civil rights and whatnot, and in case their preaching isn't convincing enough, they have the backing of the allmighty Federation. When I first arrived it was controlled by Jet Federal Limited, a Federal corporation that promoted big profit for its stakeholders, and little else. They still have an office in the station, and still controls Kinsey Terminal, a manufacturing base located on Kokojina 1A's surface.
There are several other corps in the Ring, Federal and independent, a couple other pro-democracy groups from neighboring systems, as well as a gung-ho bunch of totalitarian fanboys that call themselves the Kokojina Conservatives, and which recently adopted Yuri Grom as their newest Lord and Savior. I guess must be that beard! oh well...
Speaking of Grom, his goons have started to exert their unwanted influence around the place. It was annoying enough to have the Feds scanning you for bounties or illegal cargo every single time you enter or leave the station, but now there are EGP agents fooling around, eager to scratch their itchy trigger fingers on you for as little as being "uncooperative with the cause". Damn them all, and damn their cause! At least the corps let you go your merry way as long as you don't mess with their precious balance sheets!
For now, these fools don't call the shots in any official capacity inside Ali Ring or the system at large. But if that changes I'll have to look for a new roost to perch upon. Which will suck big time, since I've spent the last two years building a great rapport with everybody here - even with the Conservatives whose Credits, turns out, are as good as anybody else's (at least their PR and logistics guys can be reasoned with), which curiously made me richer in the process. Being only 6.61 LY from my homeworld is not bad either!
