"Familiar Faces"

Last night as I was scrolling through the mission board, tinkering with the market app I acquired from the station and day dreams a bit, when I received a communication request.Curious and more than a little worried, considering I don't know anyone or have any friends, I answered it.
Turns out it was an old friend from the pilot's federation, with ironically the same first name as me, though we all just called him "Coolj" since he was easily the top of the class when it came to
combat and was always "cool under fire.".
We spent some time catching up, after all, it hasn't been but a few months since we both graduated, but often, months in the black seem like years.
He found it a bit amusing to see that I was pursuing my major in the pilots federation and trying my hand at trading, I found it equally amusing that he was doing what he always spoke of doing when he graduated, bounty hunting.
What surprised me if that he wanted me as his wing-man, me, the guy who scored almost the lowest in the field of combat.
But, as bored as I was and in need of credits as I am, I finally let him talk me into it.
I sold whatever I didn't need for combat, used the credits to purchase some weapons, a couple racks of seeker missiles, 2 rail guns and 2 beam lasers.
Heading out, he was quite a distance from me, 17 jumps, well, for a basically stock Asp Explorer that is, a fully A rated one could have likely made it in 3 jumps or so.
Linking our ships in comms, targeting and radar, we began to hunt for criminals and in the resource extraction site we chose, they were bountiful..no.. pun intended.
Starting off was a little rough but with around 10 federal agents flying around, one in an anaconda, we didn't have much to worry about, as long as we didn't hit on of them with a stray round.
After a few hours, CoolJ had himself a Viper MKIII and I had my weapons upgraded as far as I could get them, unfortunately, the station we're at isn't the best for outfitting, I plan on taking this break while in dock to use these apps to find a better station to acquire ship components,
But first, a couple of drinks are in order, yea, I know, day drinking, but I can't stop thinking about the people we blew out into space, wondering if they died fast or slow, what they did to deserve death.. maybe.. I can look it up somewhere, maybe they were horrible people, and if so, i'll feel a lot better.
I mean, I don't feel horrible now.. just.. my conscious feels kinda.. itchy..
Anyway, guess i've ranted enough to myself in this log, i'll update again if anything interesting happens, would be nice to have these out there if anything happens to me.
