Captain's Log - Entry: 21-1 3304
21 Jan 2018Rodger "Dodge" Lasko
Following some rather lengthy preparations and final contracts dealt with here in Colonia, the time has come to set out for Sagittarius A*, albeit with some changes to the plan.Within the last few days, I received comms from an Alliance representative requesting the crew and myself return to the bubble. I came to learn that some of my friends, contacts within the Alliance, wish to present us with a new vessel to aid in our endeavours... they're calling it the Chieftain. From what it seems, they wish to award the vessel to us as a token of appreciation for much of our work within Alliance space over the last two years. It is quite the visually impressive ship, and we'll have much pre-engineering work to do before the craft is available to us. It may just become our capital vessel, should it perform to standards.
Following these events, as Captain I have determined that the Ninety-Niner shall remain in port for heavy maintenance in preparation for the long return trip following, and that my crew get a well deserved break aboard Jaques Station. It's no secret that though the voyage to Colonia was much enjoyed, it left many of the crew travel weary and tired in the aftermath... as well as Delgado, who had quite the itchy trigger finger with the urge to dive into an extraction site. I've encouraged them to take advantage of grabbing a few drinks at the bar, and catching up with some of the locals who have since become friends.
Today, I instead will be setting off solo... aboard my old Cobra Mk. III, the Nova Eclipse. The battle and travel worn vessel holds a special place in my heart as my first purchased ship after joining the Pilots' Federation, so I see it fit that it holds the honor of being the craft to make the journey to the core.
I've pieced this craft together with my own two hands since the beginning... it's time to see if the little guy has it in him to earn us Exploration Elite.
I'll be capturing images and video feed of the journey to present the crew upon my return. As well, I'll be keeping records of the journey here in the ship's logs for reference as it proceeds.
The Nova Eclipse will depart Jaques Station within the next hour.
