And What Did I JUST Say?

So, I brought along a refueling limpet controller because I didn't want to be that commander who turned a blind eye and deaf ear to a distress call. Only 10 jumps into my trip to Sag-A, I ran into a commander in an Asp Explorer stranded in a system with a Tauri star...meaning no fuel for you! A quick synthesis of limpets and a shot from the controller and they were on their merry. Funny thing was, I totally forgot how much those limpets impact my mass, because I suddenly couldn't make the jump to the next system. I stocked up on plenty of materials, so I jettisoned the remaining limpets--wasteful, I know--and was able to continue on my journey without recalculating and adding jumps.

Although I have yet to run across what I would call a uniquely striking vista on any of the planets I've been scanning and visiting so far, the above shot that Francisca took of me while I was investigating this carbon dioxide fumerole field was a good one. Something about the binary hanging so close and the primary star setting behind us, I guess.

Even though I'm doing a lot of heavy-duty scanning, I'm already within 98 jumps of Sag-A. And with three, maybe four more waypoints before the Distant Worlds 2 caravan reaches Sag-A, I may be spending a lot more time short-hopping systems around galaxy center than I originally planned. I can probably work a little harder to accumulate some of the more rare minerals that I'm really low on...like Arsenic. Speaking of that, I ran into rather pissy situation on the planet pictured above. When scanned that planet it allegedly has 1.6% Arsenic, 1% Tellurite and .8% Technetium. But regardless of how many rocks I cracked open, I couldn't find a single chunk of Arsenic. Not one! But I found a disproportionate amount of Tellurite. It almost got comical. Anyway, I need to stock up, so I'll focus more on that as I go along.
