Well, at least he wasn't being completely impulsive. After a few supply runs, and a quick test of our ability to long-haul a flight, we found ourselves sitting just outside the Veil West Nebula at a tourist beacon.I can hear him spit over the comms. "Tourists. I hate tourists."
"Well, we're sitting here, at a tourist beacon, about to take a photo. What do you think we are?"
He scoffs at me. His disgust evident, even over the comms. "We're not tourists. We didn't pay someone to bring us on a leisurely trip to see a couple sights. We're risking it all to visit places we're never seen before and go somewhere that only the most hardened of explorers even dare to try."
I resign his point. Once again, he's right. "Okay, " I said, "okay." I pause, considering my words carefully. "So, we made it 1,500LY. We passed this little test for ourselves. Onward, or back to Artemis to resupply and start again?"
"Go back?!" he questions incredulously before calming down. He knows I like to prepare and then over-prepare and then double-check that list. "No, I don't want to go back. I think we'll be fine." His voice settles a bit. "I gotta say, this system is impressive. I'm glad we chose it. I like the view of the Nebula. Let's hit Veil East and then turn up towards Colonia." His voice hardens a little. "Take my picture already."
….
Take my picture. Really?
I thought we weren't tourists.
*Cheese!*
