Well turns out I was right, there was an attempt on Aisling Duval's life made. Riri, the one who was supposed to be in charge of the League of Reparations, was shot while on trial. Can't protect anyone in a galaxy this big. All our technology and safety protocols and regulations, ship and cargo scans and we're still no better and reading people or their intentions. You can't stop terrorists, people will find a way especially if they're not worried about the consequences. You take away their fear of having to pay for something, give them a religion or a cause to believe in more than whatever punishment we'll dish out and they'll show you how brutal humans can be.
One of the reasons I can't take part in the factions' power struggle for too long at a time. Was able to earn enough merits last review cycle to earn my keep in the Federation again, went out and bought a new Beluga luxury liner. Came back out to Hauser's Reach hoping to grab a higher class of VIPs this time for our "sightseeing trips". Still the same bands of scientists and criminals, but they pay a little better for the seats now. I don't care about their pasts, they don't care about mine, they pay pretty well for the trip and keep to themselves. As long as they follow the rules on my ship and the credits keep coming in I'll keep takin' 'em into the black. Wish this station had a supply of coffee though. Or beer... Or tobacco. Place is outside the bubble so I'm gonna have to start bringing in my own supplies before putting in hours as space taxi.
That Far God cult or religion or whatever ya wanna call it is under investigation now... Maybe they are talking to the Thargoids, givin' 'em intel on where to hit us... Even though I'm not religious I still think everyone should be able to believe whatever the hell they want. If someone wants to believe their dog is the messiah and speaks to them, as long as they don't hurt someone because the dog told them to do it, who cares? One of the reasons I can't stand dealing with the imperials for too long at a time, don't like their view on slaves. This whole Far God investigation kinda seems like a witch hunt to me. They just cleared them as the victims in those attacks by that other cult/religion and now they're arresting members and putting them under the hot-light.
Screw it, I been rambling on too long, passengers are starting to take their seats, better get truckin'. Lights on, system checks, prepare for dust off...
