I was already 12.5k Ly from Colonia and we disembarked yesterday. The new ship
was making light work of the long haul between Colonia and Sol. At this rate I would arrive by Monday. I pulled the ship to minimal super cruise and went to my quarters to catch a few winks.
A loud bang at the door jostled me from sleep. The sheets were drenched in sweat and there was faint ringing in my right ear. I stumbled over to the door and opened it. Two brawny security officers looked at me disapprovingly.
There has been a collision in the docking bay. You ship was damaged by a smuggler attempting to flee the starport after being scanned.
What? Where am..
It has been heavily damaged. As you are aware, Colonia Dream has no liability..
Fully awake I responded, Yes, I'm aware. Where do I sign?
I pressed my thumb on the tablet they presented, and with it four and a half million credits disappeared from my account. Satisfied, the two officers left nearly as soon as they came.
Wait, where's my ship?
Neither responded. I walked out into the hall to collect my bearings. Did I just get scammed?
I retrieved my PDA and reviewed my ship logs. My last destination was Nyeajaae NL-J b14-9. But I was at Colonia Dream
station in Ratraii, twelve and a half thousand light years from there. Under the system name read the words Simulated Route, then Error: Connection Lost.
Had I dreamt that? I scribbled the system name onto a piece of paper and stuck it in my jacket pocket. I needed to sort out this mess before I started looking into foreboding dreams. The PDA indicated the Scarlet Hawk was docked at Bay 41. One of the ones right up front by the mail slot.
I arrived at the hangar as a couple of haulers tugged away the scorched remains of my ship. It didn't look like my
ship. To be honest, it didn't look like a
ship. A few heavily armed security officers noticed me and made their way toward me. The deck officer motioned for me to leave the area.
Sir, this is a restricted area. There are contaminants in the area.
My ship was stored here. I'm looking for the carcass to make an insurance claim.
I don't have any information about that. You'll have to talk to the Overseer. He will be in the Administrative sector. You'll have to talk to him.
It took a couple of hours, but I made my way to the Administrative sector on the other end of Colonia Dream. The main building was like a fixed axle at the center of the station while everything rotated around it. Large panoramic windows allowed ATC to see every ship inside. When I arrived a receptionist waved me down.
Mr. Bauer, the Overseer is too busy to meet with you today, but I have good news. Repairs and security inspections have been completed. I've been told your ship will be held at Bay 7 at 1500. You will have to disembark as soon as it arrives because there is another ship scheduled to arrive at 1600. All the paperwork has been taken care of.
What happened here?
I don't know the exact details, but I can ask the Security office to forward their report to you once they've cleared it.
That was too easy. Life must be pretty slow out here. I returned to the departures gate area to find a public terminal. I signed in and pulled the crumpled piece of paper out of my jacket pocket. Traffic Reports for Nyeajaae NL-J b14-9
on EDSM. My eyes opened wide.
This system was visited for the first time on EDSM by J.Bauer.
1 ship passed through Nyeajaae NL-J b14-9 space.
1 ship passed through Nyeajaae NL-J b14-9 space in the last 24 hours.
Krait Phantom - 1
I need to know what happened there.
