Looking at what I have planned, I've begun figuring out the requirements I need for my ship.
Jump Range - I'm going to need the best range I can get. Which means engineering, planning. Every ton will have to be accounted for and meticulously planned. Every module must be perfectly balanced. Lightweight engineering and empty slots will be the sacrifice. This ship won't be good for much except exploration and search, but I must take care to be able to defend myself.
Fuel Scoop - The bigger the better. I don't want to have to stay in any one place for long if I can avoid it. Notoriety may be a problem, and I’d rather jump out of a system as soon as I can.
Cargo Racks - I don't know what I'm going to find out there, but I want to bring it back.
Weapons - It's a dangerous galaxy. Humans, goids, who knows what else. I need to be ready.
The Ship - While options are numerous, ones that will work are more limited. At this point, the Anaconda or Diamondback Explorer both look good, though the ASP Explorer also seems viable. The somewhat lower jump range may knock it out of the running. Testing must be done.
SRV – Not necessary, but who knows what I may find on planets. Would be worth carrying
Fighter Hangar - ???
Engineering – The most frustrating part of this journey is going to be the engineering. So many materials to be gathered, so little time. Some of the materials will require actions that some may deem… immoral. But the ends justify the means, and the dead will be remembered.
