A gruesomely disfigured Corvette class ship, moved at the rear of the pirate fleet, as its’ commander issued the command for all lighter ships to move into position, to interdict the Ankh guard’s ships. No sooner had he issued the command, than the Ankh guard’s lighter ships, beginning to drop out of faster than light (FTL) speeds into normal space. The pirate commander watched the screen, smiling broadly. This he believed to be a foolish move by the Ankh guards, but one which would save both time and fuel, as there was no need to pursue them at superluminal velocities. He ordered his lighter ships to drop into normal space, and finish the job quickly. Moving his hand across the scanner before him, he marked the location for later; in-case anything that remained worth salvaging.

As the last of his light ships disappeared into normal space, all communications became suddenly scrambled. The pirate light ships dropping to normal space were met with jammed communications, and systems going offline, as numerous limpit drones exploded. Their design was hideously clever as they would direct their explosive force into a focused electro-magnetic pulse (EMP), when they detected a ship within range. The result was devastating, with a large portion of the pirate lighter ships, rendered completely disabled.

The oblivious pirate commander continued to issue orders- which no one heard. Unknown to him were a large number of additional limpit drones, some racing towards his fleet; designed to jam specific frequencies. others to emit EMP burst of their own, while a few were designed as flechette carriers; detonating close to any ship they detected, projecting high velocity flechettes, which could penetrate shields, damaging any ship sub-systems they impacted. A dozen limpits flew evasive patterns, several light-seconds behind the others, specifically designed to mimic the signature of specific ship types, to any sensor which could detect them.

The pirate commander was unaware of the danger headed towards his fleet, as pinpoints of light appeared on the opposite side of the planet, from the systems star; blocking them from the pirates view. As each pin-point vanished, a ship appeared, moving rapidly towards the planet; a second rescue attempt, had begun.
