The History and Context of Our Organization
The Achenar War ended in 2325. For the next millennium, the Federation was at peace. The economy boomed and citizens enjoyed their newfound prosperity, as corporations scurried to harness the limitless opportunities of the galaxy. Scientific discoveries were made and worlds were tamed in the name of progress.
But Federation space grew faster than its navy, spreading its forces thin. Centuries of peaceful and prosperous living drew attentions from defensive measures to luxuries and expansive social welfare programs. Fearing bankruptcy in 2820, the Federation tightened its hold on its fringe systems in an attempt to reduce the deficits. Taxes were raised, and funding reduced for its once renowned Navy. As security decreased, incidents of piracy increased, particularly in fringe space.
By 3300, the Federation found itself severly outnumbered and outmatched by hostile powers. Many participating systems on the fringe had declared independence, appalled by a stagnant economy and the "overly meddlesome" and "ineffectual" state of Federal security, further reducing Federal tax revenues.
Piracy had reached dangerous levels, terrorism ran rampant, and as the Empire grew in size, it had become aggressive in its foreign policy, triggering proxy wars and political conflict on the Federation's borders. On the brink of political collapse, something had to be done. Blamed for the eroding economy and lackluster defense strategy, the Democratic Party lost office for the first time in two-hundred and forty-seven years.
Elected in 3301, President Hudson (R) authorized the first bi-partisan supported security initiative, the Federal Security Administration (FSA), to combat the ever growing threat of piracy and terrorism in Federal space, and to defend against incursions from hostile powers. Located on the edge of Federal space, where military and economic support is thin, the FSA soon turned to the more conveniently located support structure of Felicia Winters (D) for aid. For the next four years, the initiative would gain traction, becoming the first full fledged para-naval security force to patrol the border worlds.
To this day, the FSA continues to conduct the tasks with which it was directed, and now actively seeks able-bodied agents to bolster its ranks. To register to our organization, please join our Discord server
