The following states determine if fires are present with Reactivation missions:

Lockdown - No Power or Fires
Civil Unrest - No Power Fires present
Outbreak - No Power no Fires present

By the way, I am quite curious about the fires extinguished numbers in the stats after that. I've seen commanders with numbers like tens of thousands fires extinguished, implying there is or was at least dozens of fires per settlement and each counted in individually, but I am not sure if that's still valid and some adjustments for medal will be necessary.

Yeah I'm not sure if it means "buildings with fires" or "every individual fire with a hurtbox". In my experience I always have to turn atmosphere on/off at least twice per settlement. I don't think I've ever had any more than 6 at any one settlement.

Took a shuttle to a settlement. Landed on the landing pad. Terrain came up through the landing pad. Disembarked on the terrain. Body clipped into ship. Ship took off and killed me.

Gotta love this "dying" game.

Waiting for the new patch, which corrects the update that fixes the game released))

But isn't SC still in Alpha?

The problem with performance, or rather the LACK of performance, in ED:O is due to the COBRA Engine as it was only designed to be a space flight sim and nothing more. Horizons had tons of performance issues when it was released because they were trying to get the COBRA Engine to do things it was never designed to do. Odyssey is more of the same, because instead of designing a new graphics engine, or at the very least redesigning the COBRA Engine, they went the lazy route and didn't recode or redesign anything at all. Anyone who thinks that the performance issues will ever be fixed is going to be waiting for a very long time.

They did a complete overhaul of the render pipeline, probably because their current dev team didn't understand what the previous one left behind.

Citation please.

Sorry, I don't have a citation, only the personal experience watching a programmer open the game engine and show me how the base coding hasn't changed since the games initial release. I guess all I have is antidotal evidence at best.

Steam reviews:

Planet Zoo: very positive.
Jurassic World Evolution: very positive.
Planet Coaster: very positive.
LostWinds: very positive.
LostWinds 2: very positive.
Elite Dangerous Odyssey: mostly negative.

If the Cobra engine was designed for space flight sims, why is Frontier's current iteration of their space flight sim the only game in their portfolio that sucks?

Way back when before the 1.0 release, they claimed the engine was supposed to be designed to able to incorporate future additions to the game such as planet surface gameplay, environments with atmosphere, on foot gameplay, etc. That was supposed to be the reason they made their own engine rather than using a pre-existing one. It seems to me it was working well enough up until they decided to overhaul everything and most likely make a lot of internal workforce changes in the process. Either that or their goal was a little too ambitious and it was too late to get off the horse.

The problem with Cobra Engine is that when you want the trees out of that like in Planet Zoo, take into consideration that game takes place in a closed non-open world area. That's why I don't think we'll ever get landable ELW. And that's just part of the problem, because if you want to release a game, you need to make sure it runs on a median of setups (that is visible especially now as a lot of "basic" PC gaming stuff is more expensive than it used to be, what sucks in countries that have pretty low incomes compared to high tech prices) otherwise they won't sell enough copies to cover estimates.

As a sidenote, I think when games/DLCs are refunded en masse (like on Steam) is even worse scenario, because having to pay money back is worse than not earning any. But that is my personal experience because I had such a situation: guy ordered something from me, but after some time they demanded a refund. In effect instead of earning a sum in my currency, I had to return almost 160% of the original price in my currency due to the fact that 1) Dollar got higher exchange rate 2) I had to cover non-returnable seller fees taken by the middleman site and finally 3) my own bank slapped me a fee for pulling the money back from savings account over the limit.
