Because the Clipper being classified as a "large" ship makes zero sense. Also the Empire just goes from small to large with no medium. It's why I skipped the Clipper. Why get it when it has to use the same landing sites as a Cutter? Just get the Cutter instead. The clipper would be perfect for the medium roll.

Ships in this game are classified based on their dimensions and and the size of landing pads and the hanger attached to them.

Clipper:
Dimensions, m: L 106.7 × W 103.7 × H 24.8;

Cutter:
Dimensions, m: L 192.6 × W 111.1 × H 33.4;

It is the width that makes in large but for that it comes with the perks of being cheaper , faster and more nimble than most of the medium ships.

Else I agree. Imps have no medium ship but if you had to downsize the clipper it should pay with some perks removed. I prefer Frontier actually start adding new ships.

I am sorry that this do not make sense for you but it is some balance between pros and cons.

As of why to get a clipper?

Although they use same size of pads they are far different ships and have different purpose. I guess the best way is to buy one, engineer it and experience it yourself. If you purely make decisions on cargo capacity and landing pad it do not make sense, but if you fly clipper after flying a cutter I am sure you will get the note.

Yup, Frontier definitely should add more ships... Ships, not a copy-paste job.

Episparh the BluntIf by ganking you mean shooting unaware players who freak out from NPC interdiction I would agree.

If you look at videos, 95% of ganks are like that. Players in under-engineered ships, straightlining and not knowing what to do.

That is seal clubbing.

Selenium Farms...
A few days ago a girl remarked about not finding Selenium (or something like that... Same day you guys were comparing Megaship hacks to crashed Anaconda). Anyway, I wanted to mention this spot...
CPD-51 3323
and the moon is 1 d a.
There are 39 Geological sites on this moon and so far, each spot I went to was a (water/ice geyser) farm Full of Selenium (and other stuff)
I filled up half my trunk in under 20 minutes from leaving my station on my first landing... Geo site #32 (I forgot the numbers for the other Geo sites I went to, but they were all good.

I just started Playing E.D. in November while home from work on injury, and just started unlocking engineers last week so forgive me if this spot is super average... Until that day I couldn't tell the difference from a g5 to a g1... But when watching youtube I heard them mention Selenium being hard to find and the best way was to go about 1,500LY's out of the bubble.......
This moon is literally... One jump from Shinrata Dezra... and also one jump from Fong Wang's RAW Mats trader.... Then one jump back to Shinrata..... It's a 1-jump triangle. (a lot of people live in Shinrata, so I gussed this might be useful)

This moon is amazing... Ice-flats for miles with the srv full throttle... then tons of super twisty tight canyons, some were 6km deep, But the most amazing thing was some of the canyons had geysers shooting water out at 45 degrees from both sides so you're going under the geysers. This moon is also a sister-moon with sister so close that when I dropped in, I was in center daylight, and an hour later the sun was starting to set. I love canyons like Pomeche 2 c and Achelous 8 a, This moon is not as extreme as those, but it's good enough to no miss the other 2.

I'm sure a lot of you veterans have become numb to E.D. buy now... but this game (I play exclusively in VR for full immersion... to me, it's more sim than game)... This game is one of the most amazing experiences in my life (considering VR full immersion). I vaguely remember playing Elite back around 1985-86 or something when I used to Code 'sprites' for games... I never would have imagined that I would be living in it one day... and to hear people saying it's dying should be a crime... to be able to fly around a relative accuracy to our real Milkyway... while having a postal job, or building your own asteroid mining company, or trucking company.... or just going out and robbing people, or doing assassinations... Or seeing first-hand the political future, and experience extra-terrestrial life in a close approximation to what the Drake equation would suggest.... Just feels like this game should be protected by worlds governments or something.... Sorry, I ramble some times...

Well said, I also "play" in VR only, it is an experience more than a game.

Sparlin007Hey, everyone! I'm on my way from Colonia to Beagle Point, but I need some motivation to keep me going, maybe some inspirational words to keep me going?

If you're going there, pencil in Ishum's Reach as a priority. I think you will feel more gratification after a visit there. Get above and below the Galactic Plane in order to find those elusive undiscovered systems which are becoming rarer since that is now a well travelled route. Good travels Cmdr.

Finally, when I did it I started a personal log. Every day I'd scribble a few words on some of the peculiar things I found in each system. Don't just jump for jumps sake. Have a good sniff around each system. I don't know why I used that metaphor, I despise Odyssey and sniffing flowers.

Thanks for the heads up on the Selenium CMDR. I'll certainly check that out when I get the chance.

As for VR, I'm with you there. I can honestly say I only bought this game so I could play it in VR. It changes everything about the experience.

I would agree if you triple the price of t7. Double the price of the clipper and cut it's speed down with 18%. Dolphin is fine as it is. It is best of smaller ship in a lot of categories. Orca though - nah , if you give her more you should take out the speed. 640 m/s is way too fast for a bus.

Get Clippers price by 1.25. The Imperial grind is covering the rest. And if you won't buff it's shields, don't cut it's speed. Now it can only hull tank which traders and miners(the clipper's default users) won't do or RUN. Shield tanking takes one internal and utility slots while hull tanking takes only internals that are vital for traders.

Dolphin would use 1 or 2 4class passenger only internals which would make it better than type-6.

As for t7 and orca, I haven't used them.

As I said. Current ships are fine as they are. We need new one not some low effort copy paste.

I full agree, been in VR since 2016 with the first Rift. Screendoor effect and can't read the text really good. But the immersion was awesome. Now with the Quest 2 the Resolution ist 2K per Eye, I can read the text now and the illusion is perfect. Lately I tried to fly without VR, because of a tec problem. It was like watching a youtube film rather than playing

But what about the heckload of key bindings? Can't play without 48-key keypad between the sticks, too much stuff that I need. Stick base buttons cannot be used with any hand, it's only left hand for left stick and right for right.

Meowers, Have you considered a game pad (Tartarus or Red Dragon) I dont play twin sticks, I use HOTAS, but I use a Razer Tartarus just to the left side of the throttle and have each key bound to a command, and with a shift function you end up with 32 programmable keys.

Yeah, I have a simpler keypad that I bought just for a test, before buying a more expensive, mechanical one... And I'm going to do that. Liked it much. However, my one looks more like a small keyboard without wrist pads or smth like that, just a square-shaped thing. And it's amazing for a HOSAS setup, as it can be used with any hand, depending on which functions I'm willing to sacrifice... for a split-second, lol (but still I have all 'hot', combat binds on the sticks). Left stick is for lateral-vertical thrusters, throttle, boost and other engine controls, except for the main trigger, it's used for heatsinks, I need to use them even during complex manoeuvres. And right stick is a classic 'direction, targeting, pip management' thing. Left-sided keypad is awesome for HOTAS, as throttle remains in the same position, but sticks are going to the zero point, breaking the manoeuvre.

During combat, I usually need that keypad for locking on target when I can't see it (useful for seeing the distance without turning around) or repairs/synthesizing. Works fine, quite intuitive.

Anyway, it was about VR initially... How do people see those buttons in VR? They really should 'know' them well.
