Elite roleplay: Off station

OFF STATION

Your ship, deep space, anything that is not happening inside the Citi Gateway or Ingaba...

General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

Lean against a post on the balcony watching the crowd waiting to get into the Club in hopes of spotting Nerys. Use my slate to get a closer look at the woman in the green dress that just arrived.

"I say. Ding dong! She brushes up well"

Rush down to the VIP entrance and try to get the attention of the giant meat-wall that is the head bouncer.

"I say Gregor old boy, could you have one of your chaps fetch that one over. The red-head in the green dress that looks like she wishes she was somewhere else. Yes that the one, wearing the pearls; she's my date. Really should have told her to use the VIP entrance"

Track his voice as it begins its long journey up from his cheat to his mouth.

"Got it Lord Goodness, I'll send 'er up to ya table"

"Good man"

Tuck a cred-stick in his top pocket and use the mirror in the cloakroom to check my new suit and hair-cut is still immaculately sculpted. Enjoy the view of the ladies on the three dancefloors below as I casually walk up to the long balcony that stretches the length of the club against the long, uninterrupted transparent steel window looking out on the Robigo system.

Return to my seat and ask for a fresh drink from the hardly-dressed waitress. Remembering how easily Nerys blushes, take another look at the staff. As all the men and women on staff are attractive and hardly have enough material between them to make a hanky, this should be an interesting experience watching Nerys try not to look.
01 Apr 2020, 3:47pm
"Miss? If you would follow me, please. Lord Goodness is waiting".

Nerys looked up to the towering waiter. He was tall, big and handsome. And his uniform was... well... revealing. But classy.

Walking along the glass corridor towards the lift to the balcony, she noticed that everyone seemed tall and handsome. Or gorgeous. Or whatever the adjective suited to their genre. Genre that was not always immediately evident.

At least no one is looking at me she thought.

Her heels clicked on the glass floor while the lift was bringing her to the third floor.
01 Apr 2020, 5:45pm
Stand and bow slightly when Nerys makes eye contact straightening my deep-blue waistcoat over a plum silk shirt. Glide over to her as gracefully as I'm able and take her hand kissing the back of it. Keeping hold of her hand, take a step back savoring the sight before me.

"The earth must have dimed a little when your radiant beauty left our cadel behind. I have not met a debutant of the Imperial court that would not flush green with envy should you grace the manor with a visit"

Pull her in quite close to me.

"May I?" indicating her pearls with my eyes.

Without waiting for an invitation, gently slip my hand under the pearls letting the back of my fingers brush against her skin as I roll the pearls under the light.

"Haven't seen the real thing in .. Oh many years"

Turn to face the table putting my free arm around Nerys' waist and escort her to a seat. Reluctantly release her from my embrace as I pull the chair out for her.

Would you care for a drink Nerys? I'm on the G&T my self.
02 Apr 2020, 2:56pm
Nerys smiled while he was kissing her hand. Creamy's compliments were exactly like him: flamboyant, histrionic, over the top, but never excessive.

"It's a gift from my father" she explained, while Creamy was looking so closely at her necklace. "When he gave it to me, he said that it was the X on his treasure map. So he meant that I was his treasure. A very sweet thing".

Under the strobo lights, the pearls shone as only real pearls can do. On their surface, subtle translucencies created very particular designs, like miniature worlds.

Creamy escorted her to a seat, then Nerys finally had the opportunity to look around. The Inner Ring was huge, full of light and music, but also a bit... well, maybe ambiguous? Classy at first, and luxurious, but the movements and skimpy clothes of the staff... not to mention the amount of exposed skin... made one suspect much less refined activities in the alcoves and booths.

"Yes, please" she nodded. "Gin and tonic is good".

I wonder why he chose specifically this place.

"It is a... colorful club" she said, timidly. "Do you have business here, Creamy?"
02 Apr 2020, 3:41pm
Resist the urge to glance back at the privet booth where Emerson, the local Cartel sub-boss often sits and surveys his empire.

"No no, not right now. Although thanks to you bringing me back to my ships, I will soon be running passengers again, and then I'll go looking for my lost Conda"

Rais my hand for a passing waiter and indicate I want another G&T.

"As for this club, I must admit I didn't think about the scenery" nod my head to the perfectly chiseled man that just went to get Nerys' drink "Although I do admit that the staff is what first tempted my inside last time I was on this station"

Give a little shrug indicating I know its a shallow reason.

"I remembered I had a VIP membership here, and imagined you sitting opposite this window allowing me to see the stars reflected in your eyes"

Sit back while the man puts a chilled tumbler in front of Nerys.

"After all, I can feel the wanderlust building under the surface. My cunning plan was to place the universe in front of your eyes and hope that building interest would tempt you out of your shell a little. Perhaps the same way that pirate did when he interdicted you"

Enjoy the memory of Nerys' intense blood pumping confidence displayed while she was jousting with the pirate.

"I would be very interested to see if you can dance with me as well as you did in that contest"
03 Apr 2020, 10:47am
The handsome waiter flashed a smile at Nerys when he brought her the drink, and she thanked him with a slight nod before tasting a sip.

(1S,5S)-2,6,6-Trimethylbicyclo[3.1.1]hept-2-ene ((−)-α-Pinene) flashed in front of her eyes.

I know, I know, it is the juniper berry oil contained in the gin. Stop making me look even more nerdy than I already am, stupid computer!

At the mention of her shell, Nerys chuckled.

"Well... yes, it has always been there. Probably from when my father... stepfather, actually... told me that I had been adopted. Before being admitted to the advanced surgery class, there was a mandatory interview with a psychologist... you know, to slim down the list. I was afraid to be rejected, but he said that it is just an interpersonal issue and that it does not influence my job... It is just the way I am".

Her sensors were picking up the scent of lime and tonic from the glass, and also a long list of perfumes, aftershave and body lotions. Her shell, if there was one, was definitely being assaulted.

"And about that pirate... well... I don't know exactly why I reacted that way. Actually I am a bit scared of my reaction... I did not expect it. Probably it was pure luck. I am not eager to do another test!"

Creamy Goodness III

"I would be very interested to see if you can dance with me as well as you did in that contest"

Nerys gulped. "Da... dancing?"

Oh my.

She smiled nervously. "My father taught me the basic steps, but I was a child" she said. "Are you willing to risk your feet on my heels? I don't want to perform an emergency surgery on the dancefloor..."
03 Apr 2020, 11:38am
Stare at Nerys for a long moment wondering if it's my mannerisms or Nobel brunt showing that made her think she would have to know any *Steps* to dance in this place until I realise I must look like the galaxies dumbest goldfish.

"Um right well, your dad sounds like a bang-up chap and I do hope you are reunited with him soon. I'll tell ya bout my pater sometime, but not right now"

Slip back into *charming host mode* and place my hand on top of Nerys' giving her a warm smile as I enjoy the lines of her neck.

"Now my dear doctor, I'm not inviting you to dance the waltz or attempt a complicated tango" Pause for a moment picturing Nerys' dress swirling while we tango "However I would very much to take that opportunity, but no. This is a night club, a disco if you will, and someone as attractive as you only has to move with the music to look amazing on the dance floor"

Slide my hand off Nerys onto the table and pick up my drink.

"Another drink or two and you may be able to stop thinking about every little thing you do, and what others may think of you, and just be. You know, the way you were while you were escaping interdiction"

Look into her eyes to see if I may have offended her by offering my amateur assessment.

"But not too many more drinks" I Raise a warning finger in a playful friendly way.  "I feel you'll lockup even more if you think you're too drunk to trust your self, and I'm looking forward to spending an evening with you and your brilliant mind so let's not addle it ay?"

Nerys smiled again, lifting a finger in a gentle warning. "Only one drink" she said. "When I drink too much, I do not become either happier or sadder... I just crash asleep. Without warning."

Then she looked down the balcony towards the dancefloor. "Just moving with the music, uh? Well, I tried classical ballroom dancing, so this will certainly be easier. But my warning about your feet is still valid! These heels are killers... surely they are killing me."

The second drink arrived, brought by a gorgeous female waitress, so striking that Nerys stopped in the middle of a word.

"Well, they do not spend a lot for laundry service" she whispered. "The amount of clothing to be washed is really tiny".

The drink was more fruity than the first one: a different list of volatile oils appeared in her mind. "Try it, Creamy. They added ginger, and a drop of lemon juice in addition to lime. Very interesting. Their barman knows what he's doing."
03 Apr 2020, 1:49pm
Glance at the waitress as she leaves.

"The money they save on laundry is spent on maintaining their apprentices to keep this job. Their discretion is as prised as their appearance to the owner"

Grin as I remember my first meeting with the clubs' staff manager.

"Do you know, I was offered a job here first time I turned up. I was tempted to give it a bash, but my dad would have turned purple and disowned should he find out. That and I'm a dreadful gossip"

Pick up my drink and sip along with Nerys making small talk while I wait for her to finish. Stand up and offer her my hand to lead her to the second floor where the music is a little slower than the dance tracks played up here. Head for the lift.

"This second floor usually has a tempo good for a warm-up"

When the lift door opens, dance my way backward to the dancefloor proudly showing off my moves to Nerys.

"Just a little waltz here, add a few steps and do something with the arms, and the ballroom becomes the nigh club. I prefer to start with a Mamba or Salsa, something with a bit more footwork that lets the hips get involved"

Close my eyes and let the music take me. When I feel it, open my eyes and extend my hand to Nerys.

"Good luck getting my toes with your heels.." Point at my feet "..when they are moving like this"
03 Apr 2020, 9:01pm
Nerys tried.

She really tried.

She didn't want to look bad, so she swallowed her fear and stepped on the dancefloor, following Creamy's steps.

After few seconds, she stumbled.

No no no. This foot forward. This arm up. Again. Copy his movements.

She tried again. And she felt every eye in the nightclub turning on her.

Ohmygod they are looking at me.

Rationally, she knew it wasn't true. But her knees started to shake. She was forced to stop and take a deep breath.

Ok, it's enough. It's enough. You did your best. Now smile, apologize and go sit down.

Yet she didn't move. She took another breath and closed her eyes.

You only have to move with the music Creamy had said.

And Nerys understood her mistake.

Only with the music. Only the music. Don't try to follow his movements.

She closed her eyes. Her left foot started to move on its own.

Todo aquel que piense que la vida es desigual,
tiene que saber que no es asi,
que la vida es una hermosura, hay que vivirla.

"Eight beats" Nerys whispered, listening carefully, her eyes still closed. "One, two, three, pause. Five, six, seven, pause. Ok."

And she danced, and danced, and she's dancing like she's never danced before.

Ay, no ha que llorar, que la vida es un carnaval,
es mas bello vivir cantando.
Oh, oh, oh, Ay, no hay que llorar,
que la vida es un carnaval
y las penas se van cantando.

She didn't try to copy Creamy. Eyes closed, Nerys was alone on the dancefloor. No one was looking at her.

Just try not to crash into someone, her subconscious said.
No one is here she replied.

Todo aquel que piense que esto nunca va a cambiar,
tiene que saber que no es asi,
que al mal tiempo buena cara, y todo pasa.

The song ended. But there was no silence.

What is this noise?

Nerys opened her eyes. From the edges of the dancefloor, where they had moved to make room for her, everyone was applauding.

And her face became crimson.
03 Apr 2020, 9:54pm
Dance my way back toward Nerys still clapping when the next track kicks in and the dancefloor starts to fill again.

"There is so much more of you in there when you're analytical tendency steps aside and lets you breath"

Step very close to Nerys still moving to the beat and put my mouth close to her ear and my hands on her hips.

"That is a good high on which to leave what? That'll make them want you more"

Take a couple of steps towards the lifts and turn round offering a hand to Nerys and nod my head towards the exit just in time to see a good looking man step between us and try his luck with her.

Ignoring the automatic swelling of my chest and impulse to put this man in his place, waiting to see what Nerys decides to do.  Just link my hands behind my back and wink confidently at Nerys before staring at the back of this man's head with a raised eyebrow while he plays his best lines backed up whit his best moves.

Falcon15eShe stoked the reactionary thrusters, lifting the Python off the pad, clearing the infrastructure cranes. With a deft flick of her wrist, she punched off the flight assist, went to full throttle and stroked the boost. The Python crammed the occupants back into their chairs, pinning their bodies to the aircraft. Kai smoothly executed two crisp rolls mid-boost, leveling the ship just prior to entering the mail slot atomizing field. Naomi was hollering in the back. Lamb drowned her out, “KAI! WE TALKED ABOUT THIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!”

Maul sat alone on the cockpit floor of the Hand with his laptop on his crossed legged lap. A few cables could be traced from the laptop to the inside of one of the panels.

"How's it looking from over there Echo?" Maul called out.

The Hand and the Arbiter were floating near each other in a desolate system just a few jumps out from Obambivas. Echo and Maul had been working together on a plan to stealthily get the ships on Clebsch Terminal without drawing the attention of whoever these Yog-Sothoth people were.

"Yeah, it seems to have worked. We've got the Hand targeted and the registration ID number just changed." Echo replied.

Maul smirked and tapped another key.

"How about now?"

Echo furrowed his brow. The ship owner's name and the name of the Hand suddenly changed.

"What kind of a name is....Killboy Power-Head?....and does this say..." Echo leaned in to get a better look. "...Foot of Porkbast?"

Maul crackled through the other end of the comms with a wheezing laugh to which Echo couldn't help but chuckle at.

"Alright man, I better get to work on getting used to this program so I can change the Arbiters details." Echo said as he started to initiate the program on his own laptop that Maul had sent over. "Where do you get this shit from anyway?" asked Echo, referring to the program.

Maul slapped his laptop shut and slid it into a small cubby under one of the panels.

"Had an old friend send it over. He's got a knack for getting a hold of things that shouldn't be gotten a hold of. I don't really question it. To be honest, I'm kind of afraid of the dude." Maul replied before getting lost in his own thoughts for a moment.

"Oh! Also be sure to tell whoever is flying that thing, that it will only mask the ship for about 15 seconds. The ships computer will quickly detect that something is fucky and rollback the details to their original status. This program was built to be used in a pinch. So be sure to be quick with the landing and get inside the hangar asap. If the control tower scans us anytime before or after we initiate the program, our cover will be blown."

"Got it." Echo replied as he watched the Hand's details glitch out revert back to normal on the holo screen.

Maul stood up and stretched a bit before wincing in pain. As much as he tried to ignore it and as much as he hated it, he was in fact still healing.

With a defeated sigh, he left the cockpit to go find Kai. Assuming she'd be the one piloting, he figured it'd be best to let her know about the plan Echo and him had thrown together.

He looked around at the decor of the Hand as he walked its hallways. It had been years since he'd been on board but the decor was just as ridiculous as he remembered. As ridiculous as it was, it made him forget for a moment that he was walking through a very large and dangerous ship. It really felt more like a home than a ship.

After a few moments, his reminiscing was brought to an end by two muffled voices behind a door. He gave a double knock and swung the door open.

Maul froze in place as he stared at Naomi and Kai who were staring right back at him. They had changed into some oversized comfy outfits and appeared to be doing each others nails. Naomi had Kai's foot in her lap and nail polish brush in her hand.

"Um...yeah sure just barge right in, why don't you?" Kai said. Her words drenched in sarcasm.

Maul stammered but couldn't actually get any words to form. He settled on slamming the door shut.

"Sorry...uh...come find me when you guys are finished. I gotta fill you in on the plan...um sorry...again." Maul shouted from the other side of the closed door.

Naomi and Kai looked at each other and shrugged before returning to their discussion of how cool Naomi thought Kai was while Kai playfully dismissed the compliments, immediately fishing for more afterwards.

Maul walked towards the galley as he tried to shake the awkwardness of the situation out of his head. After vigorously rubbing his face, he entered the galley to see Lamb and Vega casually chatting. He gave them a polite silent nod and began looking for something to eat.

"Sorry but no burgers around this time, Mr. Montresor." Lamb said as she watched Maul desperately look for something to eat.

"God, what is it with you and greasy foods anyway?" Vega added before looking back at Lamb. "You should have seen his apartment. Pizza boxes stacked everywhere."

Lamb nodded. "I do seem to recall him being quite messy. Kai's the same. I always just assumed it has something to do with them being the children of farmers."

"Ugh, I think your apartment getting shot all to hell was just the universes way of putting that stinkpit out of it's misery." Vega said, this time looking at Maul.

"I know how to clean, damn it. I just...kinda choose not to do it, is all." Maul said as he closed the cabinet and looked at the both of them. "If I start cleaning, then I'll start forgetting where I put everything and then I'd have to mess up the apartment trying to find it again. So see, there's a method to the madness."

Lamb and Vega looked at each other with a bit of a side eye.

"That excuse reeks of bullshit...just like your apartment did." Vega said before bursting out in laughter.

Maul looked at Lamb who had cracked a smile and began to giggle.

"Right, well..." Maul was becoming visibly agitated. "On that note, I reckon I'll just head back to the cockpit and check in with Echo."

Maul quickly left the galley with Vega's laugh echoing from behind him.

He entered the cockpit and saw a message alert flashing on one of the holo screens. It was from Adele's people. Maul flopped down in the pilots seat and opened the message. After a quick decryption, the message popped up.

"Carter Technology Centre is home to some of the brightest minds in the galaxy. With technological feats such as--"

"Blah blah, a quick search on the Galaticweb would tell me this shit." Maul said as he scrolled past the general description of the company.

"In conclusion:

Carter Technology Centre appeared to have had connections with Tessa Sonders and many of the companies that she used as fronts for her drug empire. That was until their business abruptly ended a few weeks before the apparent death of Tessa Sonders. Carter Tech stated in an interview that they had cut ties due to disagreements with Ms. Sonders and were looking to take their business in a new direction. They sent their best wishes to the family of the then recently deceased Ms. Sonders. In the recent leak of information by Mr. Montresor and his unknown hacker affiliates, Carter Tech remained out of the spotlight with no trace of their business anywhere to be found in the leaked documents."

Maul sat silently as he read the message over and over, looking for anything he may have missed. The cockpit door slid open but he kept his eyes locked on the holo screen.

"Sorry about that back there but you've got to admit. It was pretty funny." Vega said as she approached Maul from behind nudging his shoulder with her fist.

She then noticed that his attention was locked onto the message and began to read it herself.

A moment of silence filled the cockpit.

"I...I'm starting to think that we're getting in over our heads here. These Yog-Sothoth guys know too much. It just doesn't make sense." Maul said, eyes still locked on the message.

Vega looked down at Maul and then back at the message. She put her hand on his shoulder and squeezed it tight.

"I'll go get the others."
06 Apr 2020, 3:47pm
"Hey" the man said with a smile. "Good moves up there. You are a natural".

Nerys stopped. "Me? Oh, no no, just... Well... thank you" she babbled.

"Wanna try another dance? I am not too bad myself". His teeth flashed like Prince Charming's, and indeed he was a nice beefcake. He highlighted the word dance charging it with a lot of implicit promises.

"Ehm... thanks but no, thanks" Nerys answered with a smile, slipping behind the man. "Maybe another time. These heels are killing me. Lord Goodness, if you could be so kind..."

She offered him her elbow. Please bring me out of there was flashing in her eyes.

Maul Montresor

"I'll go get the others."

Silas sat in the pilots chair of the Arbiter, waiting for whatever magic he and Maul were working to manifest, getting lost in his thoughts and staring off into the black. He was brought back to reality by the 'incoming message' chime, though it took his brain a second to realize what it was he heard.

A few minutes later he had assembled Echo and Raven to discuss theories, having now read the message from Adele's people.

"Hey, you guys around?" came Maul's voice over the comms.

"Yeah... just reading this message about Carter Tech." Silas responded.
"Right now we're kind of stuck between whether it is telling us that Carter Tech is part of your beloved corporation, or whether they were just working for them."

"It said they 'sent their best wishes to the family'... Vega did you get that memo?" Raven asked over the ships comms. "Because it certainly seems like you should have gotten that memo."

"Well, it could be an angle, right?" Echo suggested. "So like... bear with me... this could get us easy access, or it could get us shot on sight, depending on who is running Carter Tech..."

"Well, out with it already." Silas nudged him.

"OK, well I know that we really deflated Lamb's sails when she went through all that effort to get us great disguises on Conduit and we kinda blew them immediately... and uh, hey Vega, just how much do you look like your sister?" Echo finally asked.

Mischief was Creamy's first thought. "Nonsense! You should see my niece's flamenco. She'd be overjoyed to show you her best" It was tempting just to see the look on Nerys' face, but Creamy saw a lot of himself in the man.

"Very good darling" Take Nerys' elbow and put my other arm around her waist turning her towards the lifts.

Keep eye contact with the Robigo Romeo letting the amiable friendliness drain from my shining blue eyes before actually taking a step. Aware that anyone paying attention to my body language will know I'm not far off beating my chest and shouting "MINE"  but billions of years of evolution always beats a few millennia of society for men's behavior when a woman is involved.

Hold the gaze until the would-be suitor decides to move on to his next mark before addressing Nerys.

"Shall we go back to the VIP lounge or would you care to move on? Afraid I spent too much on clothes and equipping my old Cobra to secure an apartment, but I have had a first-class cabin fitted. They have all the features of a five-star hotel don'ch know? Well, if you allow me to play the part of room service that is"

Some where at the back of the dance floor, four men got ready to follow Creamy out of the club.
