Essential for fitting strong weaponry, I'm happy to have a class 7A POWER DISTRIBUTOR and 7A POWER PLANT on my Krait, because 4 X 2B MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGER and a 3C BEAM LASER are a lot, compromise must be made with shielding.
I know it is not really a concern for AX players but in CZs it's just limit low.
Thanks! Good basis for a build.

Mandalay Exploration build from edastro https://s.orbis.zone/qBHK
I would not go with it out there. Add some utilities and it chokes. Power plant is too weak. That thing is something you cant really fix out there without a FC+garage or keeping close to the tourist highway. No thanks. Jumping 80+ ly in a empty cardboard box makes also no sense.
Looks like I screwed up with mine. LOL. I left a 5A power distributor, forgot to swap it out and had it tuned. What a waste. Should have used 5D or maybe even 4D. Currently getting ~70+ ly fully loaded including basic laser weapons.
One "tool" that was included is a Research limpet controller. Cant recall ever needing one. Maybe replace it with a small refinery? Try laser ring mining if something really exiting shows up on a scan?
How stupid idea is it to go out there with no weapons at all? I did not need them on my last >70K ly trip... but.
That would add me ~1.5 ly.

Hmm, my "Eye of Harmony" (combat Mandalay) has a military grade composite armor. It was possible to equip that at ShinDez. The only thing that might make it a bit difficult imo is the class 5 distributor. But then again, with mod Shards it should be quite the little murder boat. Will check this out next week, am a bit busy over this Sat and Sun.

Ok, done so far with engineering my exploration Mandalay. It has now 80+Ly jump range WITHOUT being a paper build. It's shield strength (with 4 pips to SYS) is 1300 MJ absolute, it's top speed is 427 m/s and boosts to 534 m/s. It has a class 4 AFMU, a class 3 Repair limpet controller, and a class 1 Research limpet controller. It's heat values are fantastic, you can initiate FSD charging while scooping and heat never goes above 64%. Here's the build: https://s.orbis.zone/qBHR

Sometimes the speed is more important and mandalay having amazing yaw time, u can able do great things. I cant get it early cuz i only have 11k arx and im not fan of monetizations in general. I'll keep arx for cobra mk5
if EDSY already had add mandalay so i could have the ship ready to build for explo and AX on paper

I know about the power priorities, I just made that one as an example build and so didn’t bother actually setting them. A G5 armored/monstered powerplant shouldn’t have issues keeping at least thrusters and FSD powered if the worst comes to the worst… but realistically you’re more likely to go down to hull damage than see an armored powerplant go down to 0%.
Also, none of the new ships has enough OPTIONAL INTERNAL slots for good tanking, hull or shield, a Challenger has 4 more, a Krait MK II, 3.

Sever power issues? It seems either get rid of something or go with OC and TS on Powerplant.
Also, practically everything is in group 1. As I understand it, you cant even escape, if something goes wrong.
I understand that 1 is only for stuff that keeps you moving away when you get hit.
What if you get this (top is your current)

You can still get 2,000-ish hitpoints out of the Mandalay with lightweight armor in my above link, providing said stats are accurate. Considering that Meowers here wrecks Hydras with an FDL that has less hull durability (though only by about 300), I don’t think it’s going to be an issue…
today, 8:12am
The problem with the Mandalay at the moment is that it only has light alloy armor. There is no military alloy or reactive alloy yet. Therefore, good armor is not yet possible. Good armor is a prerequisite for AX combat.
Throwing together a pretend build you could use in CZs and ‘standard’ solo attempts seems to say that it would have speeds similar to the FDL. Can’t say how the distributor would perform though. And no thermal spread on that powerplant either (while you’d need to keep the AFMU off in combat, but that’s not an issue).
Should be an interesting thing at least to try perhaps. If it's manoeuvrable and handles heat well, then it's a good start, and those four tier-2 hardpoints can carry some good firepower for any kind of AX combat. Speed... Being able to outrun a Basilisk would've been great, but if not, then 'any Interceptor except Basilisk' is okay too.
p.s. Lol, I stand corrected. Mandalay isn't 'smaller than FDL'. Looking at screenshots at the moment. Something only made me think like that, maybe the general 'slim' shape of the ship, opposite to the more 'solid' FDL.

I've been checking EDSY for the addition of the Mandalay too. It sounds like the person running it intends to add the Mandalay "soon", but is pretty busy these past few months and perhaps the next couple months too. I just hope it can be added sooner than that.
In the meantime, I'd recommend the Ship Builder in the Elite Dangerous Odyssey Materials Helper (EDOMH). It's not the same as the browser based fun of EDSY -- which I would argue is far better than Coriolis -- but it will let you do some tinkering and testing of various engineering mods before you do them in-game.

Looks like Archer's discount on hardpoints is now 10% in his fortified and stronghold systems. Not sure if that discount is more if you're pledged to him (it was previously 20%, pledged or not). I am pledged to LYR.
This is also shown in the outfitting screen with a text hint for each item.
Edit: Mahon's systems are still showing 20% off on cargo racks and hull reinforcements.

"Understandable." With a few taps on his command console, Vasil cleared the last few minutes of comm logs and instructed the COVAS, "Purge level one." Judging from the conversation and its implications as to the type of people Maul had been speaking to, Vasil felt it in the best interests of all concerned to remove any indication the conversation ever took place.
“What might not be understandable is why we will be asking for landing clearance on an installation that usually restricts access only to inbound shuttles. But I have an idea.”
Once at the Golden Jackal, Vasil contacted station control to request landing clearance. He transmitted his ERS credentials and explained that the Umbrella encountered some pirates in another system while searching for a missing crewmember. After evading the pirates, this was the closest verified friendly system and Imperial station. All the Umbrella needed was somewhere safe to assess damage and get back to the search. All technically true as long as no one cared to get into the details.
“Stand by,” said the flight controller and muted the channel.
* * *
“What’s the deal with that Krait,” asked the shift lead from her seat overlooking the control room and the holo displays of ships around the station. “It’s not a scheduled arrival.”
“It claims to have encountered pirates and wants a place to assess damage,” said the controller. “The pilot’s credentials are ace, he’s a VP with those ERS people. There are no red flags on the ship or commander. Scans show it has internal damage, but nothing critical. I was about to deny landing and direct it to O’Hare’s Hanger.”
The shift lead called up the info on her screen. “Vasil Vasilescu,” she said, repeating a name that came up as having been involved in the carrier duel, but in a neutral, unarmed rescue vessel. Why now was he showing up in a combat craft. Something did not seem quite right. “Direct the ship to hold point six alpha. I need to let Palmer know about this.”
* * *
The Umbrella had been waiting at the hold point for ten minutes before flight control re-opened the channel. “Umbrella you are cleared for landing on pad 27. You have six hours to make your damage assessment. You are restricted to blue zones while on station.”
“See,” Vasil said to Maul. “Sometimes these things work out.”
On the Golden Jackal, Ambrose Palmer, growing more irritated with the changing situation told the agents assigned to watch the crew of the Umbrella to not lose track of them like they had that Thorn girl. Weeks of nothing to report and now this. All of the paperwork was going to be a bitch.

First flight with mine, just engineered the FSD Increased range ︎︎︎︎︎ from the Carrier, been jumping near by to Material Traders for Synthesis for the Krait MK II MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGERS.
I'm not impressed with the cockpit view from the side but I suppose one can get used to it.

Yes, the complete list is on each power page, for controlled and contested systems (I will probably add some filters like for the status there later, as for some powers it's quite huge). Unfortunately, there are no other data than just the status and powers present in the journal, so there is not possible to display any progress/percentages or such. But maybe if players will ask Frontier about it a lot, they may add it there.
Hey Artie! Is there are way to have a list of systems under each power in PP and their respective status. It's so difficult to click through every system a power has (can be hundreds). Maybe all the systems within the bubble of a stronghold and show PP status and progress in each? Not sure if any of that data is accessible though for you.

"Sounds like you might know this from past experience, huh?" Maul said playfully from over by the medkit attached to one of the walls, replacing the makeshift bandage around his head with a proper one. After that he closed the box, choosing to pass over any painkillers that Vasil had stocked. The thought of taking anything now formed a pit in his stomach, that said, he still craved a cigarette.
Ignoring the urge, he came back to sit near Vasil again as they approached the Golden Jackal. The place sounded like a breeding ground for trouble. It'd be smart to try to smuggle in a weapon. All of which were on his ship that was still docked at the pirates repair station....
"Damn it!" Maul exclaimed at the realization before trying and failing to use his suits completely dead comms to which then replied with a disappointed "Shit!"
"My courier is just sitting back there at that repair station. It's just a matter of time until Vodan's crew scrubs the security footage and sees my mug galivanting around their FC. They'll gut Desumashin in a nanosec once they put two and two together and realize my ship is just sitting there. If that happens I'm as good as dead. Need to use your comms."
Without hesitation or permission or even thinking about it, Maul tapped a button and called up a comms panel over to the crew seat he was occupying. After manually typing out a string of characters that directed to a particular comms link address and giving it a second for the connection to fully link, a voice on the other end came through the ships internal sound system.
"Hola, Carlos speaking."
"Carlos, it's Ghoulie. In a bind here, is Aki and Dimka available for a fetch quest?"
"¡Órale! we thought you were dead brother! It's been tw—"
Maul glanced over at Vasil and continued.
"Yeah yeah, I know. I'll fill y'all in later. Now Aki and Dimka."
"Sí, sí, they're available. With short notice though, whatever the job is, it'll be double the standard."
"Right, sending the deets now. Ship codes and all that. No contract this time. Tell 'em to prep for some pissed off pirates...and...uh...Knulus was spotted in system."
"Knulus?...Triple the standard. Dimka's price, you understand."
Maul closed his eyes and briefly sat in silence before sighing heavily. Dimka had accrued a hefty the bounty over the years and to Knulus, that meant a hefty payday.
"Fine. Half now, half after...and tell Aki she better not poke around in my ships systems this time."
"We'll have your baby here and waiting."
The line went dead and the link was broken. Maul finally relaxed again knowing that his ship was now in the hands of the two most capable ship poachers he'd ever known, even if it did put a big dent in the expense account he'd received from Vasil. But after the wave of relief washed away he'd realized that the commandeering of the ships comms like that for personal use seemed a bit rude.
"Sorry for...uh...thanks." Maul said, clearing his throat and giving Vasil a slight nod. "With everything going on, that's at least one less thing to worry about...hopefully."

It flies really well, very snappy reactions, turns on a spot both in and out of SC. It handles heat extremely well, was starting to charge my FSD while still scooping and it didn't go over 64% (that's almost as good as the Dolphin). The distro is a bit small but hey, I'm going to equip one for AX combat anyway
