General Roleplay Etiquette:

1. Control only the actions of your own character(s). (AKA: God Mode)
This doesn't matter how small the action is, even if it is as simple as scratching their nose or a direct reaction to something else that just happened. This applies to everything from casual conversation to full blown fight scenes. If you'd like someone to do something specific, PM that person, however keep in mind they are completely within their rights to say no. Especially if said action is inappropriate to their character and/or circumstance.

2. Don't brute force your way into another persons RP.
Approaching with a conversation starter is fine, or indeed some other small action. However charging in, guns blazing and disrupting the flow of another person/pair/groups conversation/arc is about as rude as doing so in real life. If something is going on that you'd like to participate in, be subtle about it. Put out a gentle hook for someone to take, but again, be aware that said hook may not be taken. If you fear it was simply unnoticed, PM the person or people it concerns. Or even leave a message in the OOC forums.

3. Good grammar and spelling is preferred.
We're not asking you to be perfect, but please at least demonstrate willingness. no1 iz gna tak u srsly usng txt spk. There's a wide variety of people here, many who speak English as a second, or even third language. There are even some with varying degrees of dyslexia and/or likely other issues that affect spelling/grammar. We accept them all here. However, people who aren't accepted, are those unwilling to accept polite correction. Remember that even a small thing like the placement of a comma, or the wrong use of there/their/they're can completely change the definition of an entire sentence.

4. Accept constructive criticism gracefully and politely.
If someone spots an issue with your writings, they may wish to help you improve that writing. They may do this through PM or even publicly air their thoughts on the OOC forum. If they have taken the time to be polite and explain what is wrong with your writing, the best way to behave is to respond in kind, using the same manner they have approached you with. It means they have taken an active interest in what you have written and wish to see more. Basically, you have a fan!

5. Don't take the actions or opinions of things done IN RP, to be directly relevant to the writers thoughts or opinions.
Basically, if some ones character calls your character a jackass, it doesn't mean the writer thinks you are a jackass. It's a ROLE they are PLAYING. Watch a movie. The argument between the characters isn't an argument between the actors involved. The same applies here.

6. It's not a popularity contest.
Your RP might be bustling with participants. You have 3 people off station in a fire fight, while another 2 are infiltrating the darkest areas of the station, meanwhile a group of 4 others are tracking your movements in an effort to stop you. Good for you, I'm sure it will be a thrilling read! But you know what? Sometimes the absolute BEST work, comes from two RP characters having a simple heart to heart. Both are valid, both are great, but NEITHER is categorically better than the other. Period.

Inara RP Etiquette:

1. Respect the setting and rules of the universe.
Inara is an Elite: Dangerous 3rd Party Tool. The RP Forums are set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Elite: Dangerous has rules, as any fictional universe does from Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, or Game of Thrones to Star Trek. If you intend to RP within the Elite: Dangerous universe you are bound by the history and rules of that universe. Simply put, this RP forum is bound by the same rules as the game, so if it can't be done in the game, it is not permitted here. This applies to things from a 50Ly Jump Range on a normal, unmodified Sidewinder, to the destruction of entire stations.

2. Respect the characters created by others.
We have a wide variety of characters already here. It's expected that some will be similar, just as it's expected that two characters will be vastly different. Opinions of each persons character will naturally be varied, but all are valid provided they follow the rules of the universe. You are allowed to interact with, or avoid interaction with, any character in the RP forums. But you have no right to belittle others for their creation. You are not an authority figure on writing, nor are you directly affected by another persons imagination. You might not like it, but you MUST respect it.

3. Be caught up on current events before joining in.
You need basic things like character descriptions in order to interact with them. You also need to know what's going on in the surrounding areas. This is simply because the people you are hoping to RP with, might be gearing up to something that you might not want to be part of. Or simply that the most recent post, out of context, could leave a different impression on the goings on than if you gather that context. We don't expect you to read every single post from the beginning of the forums, just enough to get that basic understanding.

4. Either subscribe to, or frequently check, the Roleplay: Q&A and OOC forum.
People may be discussing something relevant to you there, or even discussing you directly. Perhaps someone asked what the general consensus on the existence or non-existence of a certain object. Or we're just chatting about random gibberish. Either way, be aware of it and use it. If you're unsure about something, such as how guns would look and or behave, or even the music selection, use the OOC forum to ask. We don't have all of the answers, but the collective knowledge and logic usually allows us to overcome an issue and come to a decision on what should be allowed. Frontier Developments, and even David Braben himself, don't have the answers to every possible question that can be asked.

5. Large Scale events exploding out of nowhere are a complete no go.
We get it. Everyone wants their character to be noticed and for people to be tripping over themselves to interact with them. In some audiences, an introduction involving you blasting in for landing in a fiery wreckage of a ship, before cart wheeling out and sword fighting 35 Ninjas before whisking off with the local celebrity for a glorious night of passion, is in fact, cool. This is not one of those audiences. It is generally considered better to build your character up slowly over time. Eventually, you might even have a legitimate excuse to fight those Ninjas. Maybe even with other RP participants by your side.

6. Perfect characters are boring.
The point of a character arc, is that it is in fact, an arc shape. One who is morally unquestionable, fully kitted out and an infinite fountain of knowledge, cannot go through an arc. Give your character flaws. Be it a tendency towards befriending the wrong people, or a bad knee that frequently gives out at inopportune moments. It gives readers something to latch onto and empathise with. You can give your character exceptional capabilities at something, but it requires balance. She's a damn good pilot with no equal, but can't drive an SRV for peanuts. It can lead to some very interesting moments between characters, be it heartfelt or comedic.

Other Notes:
It should be noted that there can be exceptions to these points. For example, good grammar when a character is speaking is actually rare. Few people in real life actually speak with perfect eloquence after all. Or previously arranged actions during a fight scene, such as someone stumbling back after a punch. What's key to remember is context.

All in all, remember this is purely for fun. We have some seriously talented writers here, and others whose writing history starts and ends at high school. But many are willing to help out in whatever way they can. All it takes is that you ask nicely.

Also keep in mind that many people who RP here, also have logbook stories related to the character, or characters, they portray. If it looks like there's an "in joke" going on that you're unsure of, it's probably in those.

In fact, some users have even gone to the trouble of creating "alts" to RP with. If you read back far enough, it's usually pretty clear who has and hasn't, and which ones are the "alts". It's therefore not unheard of to see the apparent seizing of control of other characters. If you do spot one, point it out in the OOC section. If intervention is needed, it will be sorted quickly and (hopefully) politely.

Most, if not all RP participants here have Logbook stories pertaining to their character(s). These are for the reading pleasure of anyone who wishes to do so. While it can be useful to read them in order to gain a bit of backstory on a character you wish to interact with, it should not be assumed that your character shares that knowledge. Within the E:D Universe, these Logbooks either don't exist, or are private diaries kept by the characters. Either way, without explicit statements to say otherwise from the writer, your interactions should reflect that your character is in the dark about any information you, the writer/reader, have gained from reading the stories.

*comes in singing and with a Cobra Mk-III-shaped hat on*

-Running silent, running deep, we are your final prayer
warriors in secret sleep, a merchantman's nightmare
A silent death lies waiting, for all of you below
Running silent, running deep, sink into your final sleep-

Hi barpeep! I'm having a very small party.

*goes to check the jukebox for "Aces high"*

I'm so hyper. I think someone put E-104 in my drink.

A woman walks into the bar mascara running down her cheeks. She is a small girl only about 5'5 and 120lbs. She is thin but curvy. She has silver hair with a single Cyan streak on the right side of her head. A gnarly scar is seen on her right shoulder. Cybernetics have taken place of a large portion of her shoulder and muscle. She has a cute almost elven appearance to her face. Her skin is pale with a slight olive tint. The right side of her face has a long stiched gash from the corner of her mouth to just below her eye. Her right arm is in a metallic medical brace. She is wearing a regal black imperial style dress adorned with gold, platinum and tanzanite jewels. She wears no insignia on her shoulders and she does not appear to be imperial by any means.

She is accompanied by an Imperial woman who is only about 5'6" and 140lbs. She is pretty muscular for her build. Her left arm has been replaced with a violet cybernetic one. She has shorter messy brown hair and crystal blue eyes. Her skin is a caramel color. She is dressed in her nicest Imperial Naval uniform. A black band runs across the imperial crest on her right shoulder. Her face is badly bruised and she has a heavy limp due to the exo brace on her right leg.

The two of them approach the bar and take a seat.

'I'd like a blue lagoon please. Or something similar.'

The silver haired woman has a sweet Irish accent, her tone however is somber and it sounds as if she is about to cry. The imperial woman speaks. Her voice is gruff but feminine and she has no distinguishable accent.

'Pour me something strong please. I have somethings I'd like to forget.'

Lilianna turnt to the duo of women entering and taking a seat at the bar. Raising an half-full glass, she speaks.

"Cheers, forgetting is easiest with some solid alcohol," she chuckles. "If I may, though. What do you wish to forget, before you actually do? You two seem like there's a story behind y'all, and I surely do not mind knowing it."

The woman talking is armor-clad, and has both a gaze and stature of a soldier. A set of orange cybernetic eyes adorn her face, which has a stern but gentle smile. The first impression would be that she is an soldier, but if anything, she's simply someone who goes where the drama happens, and has since dressed accordingly.

"I'm Lilianna, by the way. Callsign Rhohain. You two are?" She tilts her head somewhat, before taking a sip of her own drink.
26 Mar 2023, 5:30pm
The imperial woman responds never looking away from the wall of liquor.

'My name is Jules.......' she clenches her cybernetic hand turns away from the bar to face the woman and continues. The look on her face is that of pain as the memories from the last few months rush through her mind. 'I'd like to forget........'

'The abuse, the torture, and the violence.'

Silvia turns towards the woman cutting Jules off before she can finish her sentence.

'We both wish to forget place we have been for the last couple months. My name is Silvia.......... Duval.... wait no that's no longer accurate... my name is Silvia Sharpe. My wife Venus just died a few days ago.'

Tears begin to roll down Silvia's face as she remembers watching Venus collapse into her arms before taking her last breath.
26 Mar 2023, 8:24pm
Lilianna nodded, raising her glass. "My condolences."

"So, y'all are companions? Or how am I supposed to interpret it? Well, either way. As I said; Name's Lillianna. Lilianna van Duyn. I'm an Exobiologist by hobby, and a Merc by profession. What's y'alls deal, aside from the obvious?" Lilianna took a sip, before scooting closer to the two women.

"No need to explain anything you don't want to, I still respect the need-to-know basis. Grew up in the military myself, bit too rebellious to have kept around though. Now I'm just working with a few friends or acquaintances whenever necessary. I'm the Flaming Fire of Scarlett, Second Seat of the Knights of the Scarlett Flame."

"Fuck knows where the First Seat is hanging about, she's particularly enigmatic when it comes to contacting her," she chuckles. "Ah, but anyway. I'm going on a tangent here, when I asked for y'alls story. Please, tell me all about you. Seems like there's a good story attached here."
26 Mar 2023, 9:36pm
'I would call us friends at this stage. Though the events surrounding our meeting are unfortunate.'

Jules chuckles a but the look on her face says that she regrets some things. She looks to Silvia as if looking for permission to speak on the events.

'It's fine Jules you can say as much as you wish.'

Silvia turns back to the bar waiting for her drink. Jules shifts a bit in her seat trying to find a comfortable position.

'You see we met when my former employer sent me on a retrieval mission for what I though was valuable materials to sell. They neglected to tell me their target was Silvia.'

Jules clenches her fist and jaw before taking a deep breath and relaxing.

'I will deal in smuggling, and piracy so long as living creatures and people are not targeted. I didn't even know they had taken Silvia until after I had submitted my report on the "accident".'

Jules closes her eyes recalling the events from her perspective.

'When I returned to our hideout I found Silvia's escape pod inside the cargo bay of my partners ship. I ripped the severly damaged pod open and rushed this girl inside. I did my best to close the gaping wound on her face. She was unconscious at the time.'

Silvia reaches up and touches the wound on her face gently. Remembering the first moment she woke up in the strange room.

'My boss was planning on using Silvia as bait to lure her wife in in the hopes to enact revenge on her for ruining their slave trade. I was unaware of this. I was niaeve when I took on the role.'

Silvia manages to stifle her tears and in a choked up voice tells a summarized version of her story.

'I was taken by these men. Marcus Diaz and Nicholas Grenshaw. They were squad members of my wife's while she was serving in the Imperial navy. She found out that the squad had been partaking I illegal slave trading and put an end to it.'

Silvia sighs before continuing.

'They broke my leg and my arm. Jules helped me escape when they decided to start abusing her for protecting me. We escaped...... well we thought we did..... they were tracking her ship and destroyed my home. They brought us back to the hideout and broke Jules' leg and cut off her left arm. Thankfully enough it was already cybernetic to begin with. Venus showed up and died while trying to rescue me.'

Silvia again begins to cry uncontrollably. Jules stands from her seat and makes her way over to the woman sitting nearby. She takes a seat next to her.

'What she doesn't know is Diaz is still alive. I shot him in the back but one of his bounty hunters got him out of there just before system security and medical arrived for us. I can only hope he is satisfied with her wife's death.'

Her voice is hushed so as to not alarm or upset Silvia more than she already is. She returns to her normal tone as she speaks again.

'The things I'd like to forget are what was done to me the night before we attempted to flee. Those are things I'd rather not explain.'

Jules leans back in her chair and motions with her hands as if to finish the story.

'That is all I care to explain at this point. Anymore would bore you to death. I am sticking around with Silvia because I feel indebted to her protection. Anything that comes from this arrangement is meant to be.'
27 Mar 2023, 2:40pm
Raglan strode into the bar, glad to be back after so long.

He ordered a Beer and sat at the same table he was at last time he was here. He smiled, remembering the chance meeting with Descartes, and the adventures that had followed.
He wondered where she was now, if she was safe, happy, doing her thing in the way only she could.

Slowly he surveyed the surroundings, the usual crowd you'd find in any bar in any starport. Pirates, traders, miners and mercenaries.

It had been a strange couple of days, almost getting stranded through a stupid rookie error, and somehow being rescued and refuelled by the only fleet carrier within 10 systems.

"Could only happen to me", he thought, smiling to himself.
29 Mar 2023, 8:00pm
Jules began to wonder if she had overshared her story and if this woman had simply meant what their story was in terms of professions.

'Sorry if that was a bit over complicated. I sometimes tend to overshare information when in distress. Let me start over I am Jules Cavanaugh. I am now former Imperial Navy. Silvia there well she's a bit of a mystery to me still.'

Silvia turns to Jules and the woman. She sniffles wipes away the tears stands and walks over to the table and takes a seat. She takes a deep breath and calms herself before speaking.

'You already caught my name. I am a Xenobiologist by trade. Mercenary by need and explorer by chance. You'll have to forgive us we went through hell the last couple months as we explained. We are simply here to drink, forget, and maybe with some luck a bit of leisure.'

Silvia looks over at the bar annoyed that she hasn't been served her drink so she proceeds behind the bar and in a flashy display mixes up a blue lagoon, perfectly pouring each ingredient and showing off nonchalantly. She looks as Jules and thinks of a drink to make her forget and begins mixing. Bottles and shakers go twirling around her as she mixes up a vexing blue drink. She decides to make her own twist on it. Silvia looks around the bar and finds a bottle of swirling silver liquor and pours some into the drink. She gives it a quick stir and taste tests it. As soon as the concoction hits her tongue her turns to a look of 'Oh this will definitely make you forget'.

She returns to the table and places down the 2 drinks. Jules stares at the drink wide, eyed unsure of what to think of the silvery blue swirling mixture sitting in front of her. She looks to Silvia who has a smirk on her face.

'What have you made me?'

'It's my own twist on another favorite of mine the Adios Mother F'er. 2 or 3 of these and you'll forget everything from the last 24hrs. Hence it's name, The mind wipe tonic.'

Jules takes a swig and reels back from the potency of the drink. She isn't disgusted by it though, instead she is delighted to have a flavorful drink that is strong enough to wipe her memory.

*walks in looking very worried*

Where... *looks around* where is friend Goodness?

Oh hello! Good- *checks an ancient mechanical timepiece* -morning, have you seen the barkeep?
I need to talk to him. I discovered something. Oh, and I need to get you all a drink for being

*climbs on a barstool*
30 Mar 2023, 8:48pm
Jules finishes her drink and looks at the peculiar individual clamber onto a barstool.

'Your friend seems to be absent. Perhaps one of us might be of assistance to you?'

Jules stands loses her balance and plops back down into the chair. The drink Silvia had made was much stronger than she had first thought and like Silvia said 2 was certainly enough to get one drunk.

'HA! Lightweight! Stay put before you hurt yourself more.'

Silvia laughs at Jules' feeble attempt to stand. She stands from her seat and walks behind the bar, grabs a clean cloth and begins meticulously cleaning the 2 dirty glasses from Jules and her drinks. While cleaning she looks to the individual and smiles.

'Since the bar keep seems to be missing, maybe I could fill the position. Need something to keep my mind off things for little while. My name is Silvia Sharpe. You can call me Silvia or you can call me Sharpe just dont call me late *winks*. Interesting little device you have there.' Silvia points to the timepiece. 'My father keeps one on him at all times. Always says "technology will fail us all one day"'

Silvia mocks a thick Irish male voice, and chuckles at the thought of him saying it.

'Who might you be?'

'Silvia make me anozer one of thoszhe Mind Wipe Tonicsh'

Jules' speech is slurred but coherent enough. Silvia nods and begins mixing the drink. Blue and silver swirl around in the clear glass. Silvia finds a purple swirling drink takes a small taste and pours a little into the drink. This time ensuring none of the three colors mix too much. She walks it over to Jules and sets it down.

'This is the final part to the Mind Wipe Tonic. After this you'll forget the last 24 hours as well as the next several hours.'

Oh I be Eli. Hmhmm.
Technology will eventually fail. But so does everything else. If you have the time to wait for it.

If you can give everybody here a drink. *puts a chunk of technetium-laced platinum the size of Andre the Griant's fists on the bar.* I got this from a supernova remains. I hope it covers the bill.
As for the other thing... well... I think Salivation is in my plasma blaster. I need to find Arty D-2.

I don't dare fly the ship anymore. And it's one of my favourite sideys *nods vigorously*.
31 Mar 2023, 1:22pm
Silvia looks at the chunk of titanium wide eyed, then looks at Eli. She does a quick calculation looks for a safe space to place the chunk of metal.

'Well Eli nice to meet you. Did you seriously carry this chunk of starmetal in your pocket? You are a brave soul. This should certainly cover the cost of drinks for the patrons here today.'

Silvia places the chunk of metal beneath the bar and attempts to adjust her dress. She gives up after brief moment then looks to Eli

'A moment please I need to get out of this dress and into something a bit more free.'

Silvia steps out of the bar and returns a short while later. She is now wearing black skinny jeans and a vibrant blue off the shoulder shirt exposing her right shoulder and allowing her cybernetics and scar to be seen. Around her neck is the same magnificent gold platinum and tanzanite necklace.

'Right, Eli since you are the gracious host tonight what shall we be serving these fine patrons today?'

I have no idea. Something they like.
Yup. I carried it here. In my backpack *points at something that looks like it was made for Jules Verne*.
Oh... you may want to keep the metal in a radbag. Technetium isn't entirely stable...

I'll have a tabasco. I liked it last time.

Freeer than a dress? Hm. Nothing beats an almost liquid silk dress. You barely notice you're wearing anything. But... shipsuit. Has emergency life support. For if I accidentally stroll out an airlock Or wake up and try to sleepdrunkenly open a window.

Oooh! shiny! *points at the necklace*

Did anyone see Arty? I mean D-2... I mean Seo Jin-Ae?

*hums the classic "If I only had a brain"*
31 Mar 2023, 3:30pm
'Very well.'

Silvia thinks for a moment then grabs a couple of bottles from the wall. She grabs enough glasses for everyone. And pours a simple drink for the patrons.

'Technetium is the reason I was shocked you had that. Very valuable to the right people. The dress was form fitted and very uncomfortable. Imperial fashion is strange. If it had been a sundress I would have loved it.'

Silvia hands a drink to the members in the bar and when she reaches Jules she pauses. Jules looks up at her and smiles drunkenly and attempts to flirt.

'Whatsch crackin little lassy. You.... ou look like a supernova on a cold winter morning. Whachu doin' after thisch?'

Silvia chuckles and walks away. She returns to the bar and calls for an escort service to take Jules back to their room. She looks at Eli and let's a small smile slip.

'You are curious. I think I know something better than a Tabasco.'

Silvia grabs a couple of random red liquids and a glass. She pours tomato juice, and other spices and flavorings including Worcestershire sauce, hot sauces, garlic, herbs, horseradish, celery, olives, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, lime juice and celery salt into a shaker and mixes up special drink.

'Here you go. It's no Tabasco but I think you'll find the flavor quite magnificent. It's a non alcoholic version of a bloody Mary. It's got a nice Tart flavor and a solid kick of spice. I find it to be a right bit better than plain Tabasco.'

Silvia places the drink if front of Eli and pulls out a small drink umbrella and places it gently into the glass. Silvia reaches up to her necklace and removes it. She holds it in her right hand and closes her eyes while gently touching the stone with her left. She reaches her right hand forward and with her left gently grabs Eli's. She places the jeweled necklace into their hand.

'Here you hold onto this it's said to keep the space slugs away.'

Silvia smiles again and proceeds to clean up the mess she made of the bar.

'Oh and as for Seo Jin Ae....... I haven't the slightest clue where they are. No body does. Sorry.'

Rex RaglanRaglan strode into the bar, glad to be back after so long.

He ordered a Beer and sat at the same table he was at last time he was here.

Silvia looks over and realizes this man had never received the beer he had ordered. She strode over gracefully and in a bright bubbly tone, letting her irish accent flow fully, she asked.

'What kind of beer would you like?'
