Rawnuthe player base can make interesting choices

If they don't solve the Thargoid Pulse Neutraliser to make it to work reliably, my interesting choice when it comes to Titans missions will be NO THANKS.

I refer you to the definition of the word reliable.
adjective
consistently good in quality or performance; able to be trusted.

NOT the case of this module today, if it needs "timing" it's just not good enough, especially for people with two weeks of experience with Thargoids, now don't ask yourself why even experienced players have turned their back to the event.

Now if you guys (in general) can't get that one straight, get off your rocking horses and look at your experience in the field, one can't have it both way, either mine is near null either it's good enough to get it right all the time, but too many players had the same issue with this module.

What I figured with this Titan episode is that Devs have find a few ways to screw us,: Weapons melting, with no upgrade available to protect them and now this.

We're not playing to spend endless resources and they have a few bugs to sort out including storage (BTW I still don't have had a reply from support on the issue, if they thinks I'm gonna spend billions to do their jobs they're dreaming).

Sometimes I got the feeling that developers lives in the cave age when I compare with what is available to fighter pilots of today in terms of technology (HUD, ECMs etc) and if nobody is saying a word we still will be struggling with half'@ss solutions to simple problems in a few years.

So don't bother lecturing me, it's not here you should be looking but where there is a lack of vision that this event highlighted.

PS. We're big enough to ask for advise or tips when we need it and I say a big thank you to those who did help (that's including you Rawnu).

Thinder, while I'm not part of FDev, I would like to provide some perspective. I've alluded to this previously in other comments: if you're not enjoying something (i.e. form of entertainment), perhaps you're not the intended audience.

You've said yourself that you have only two weeks of experience against Thargoids. Additionally, your instincts with combat seem to run counter to AX combat as far as builds and engagement. So, while it must be very frustrating not to be able to participate, I think it's important to keep a level head about this and understand that not all game content will be achieved/earned/experienced by all players. (CQC is another example that comes to mind.)

The question I posit: How can a game studio engage both the average player as well as the more dedicated (for whatever gameplay is being considered)? They might not be able to. So, on the one hand, they can create content that appeals to everyone who starts up the game, even minutes before. On the other hand, they can create content that keeps the dedicated players enthralled. In this case, I think they tried a bit of both.

It seems to me that you wanted to run the race and finish the race. Not everyone does, so it's unrealistic to think that you and everyone can.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't try. In fact, I hope my efforts to help around here throughout these months show the opposite. I think all players should try everything. I'm someone who says "it's the journey, not the destination". I hope you can find satisfaction with your own efforts by noting that you worked hard to make it to the destination and I think that effort is worth appreciating, regardless of the outcome.

So, for you and for anyone else who has reached for a goal and not achieved it, I say: Well done. Your effort is valuable. You've learned, grown, and hopefully will make another attempt in the future because you WILL be better then. You already are.

TLDR: The only way to fail is to give up. Thank you for attending my TEDTalk.

IndyThinder, while I'm not part of FDev,

That's the only part you got right.

You're not a developer and are not in a position to lecture anyone on a half-developed module or in which audience other players belong, especially taking the side of developers when visibly one module causes issues, I'm a customer, I don't kiss butts.

Fighter pilots have SHOOT clues in HUD since the mid-90, it wouldn't be too hard for Devs to add a visual and audio clue on the distance of a wave, all other weapons have clues.

Again to me it's either laziness or plain taking the mickey, this is Sci-fi, this game should be ahead of today's technology, this module belong to the cave age and the fact that you have the hang of it doesn't make it reliable, it is NOT reliable.

End of story I'm not taking anymore advises or lecture or how-to from you. I've had it and something else, you also were wrong on which ship to use, the only time I managed to reach the Titan I was on a Python MK II. Get your facts right.

Thus we see the fall of man. A failure to grow and learn.

I know this is frustrating, but it's a game. You tried hard and can try hard again and again. You will succeed as long as you try.
I'm sorry you're upset, but you did your best.

RawnuDiscuss: did FDev want to give players the option not to bomb Cocijo into meltdown by starting the Titan "hum", burrying that strange picture in the soundwaves? But if they really are "players shape this game", why do this on a Sunday afternoon, knowing that it'll take a day or so that someone catches, and probably another day or two until YouTube, Reddit etc. starts forming an opinion on it – all the while speeding up Cocijo's destructing on Monday. No, the Titan was supposed to fall, this was the script for starting the next phase of the conflict and driving the colonization question. If "we" really had a choice, FDev would have allowed the Titan to live until Tuesday evening UTC and started the humming on Saturday. Because within two to three days, the player base can make interesting choices (see how quickly Mother Gaia's influence dropped after that Reddit post about Triton). But you need a few days for that and the time was too short in this case.

So anyway, back to my initial question *points above*
Was there ever a chance given to the player base to change their mind? I don't think so, not in the given time frame, that would've needed at least a day more, rather two more.

So you want more Thargoid stuff? As I said, unless they (Developers) do their job and fix the "twichyness" of the SHUTDOWN FIELD NEUTRALISER, I'll be only killing Thargoids in non-corrosive environments using my weapon of choice the MODIFIED GUARDIAN SHARD CANNON.

I think I don't have to prove anyone that I can do that, Killing Thargoids is easy when everything works, this includes the SHUTDOWN FIELD NEUTRALISER, since I was in Laser range and used it every single time with 90% success, the Titan thing is something else, I don't know what level of randomity is involved but this is not worth of an advanced Sci-Fi game.

For the time being I am replenishing my resources since I had to spend in two weeks what most of you have in several years, I'm not here for the badges and don't take this game for a catwalk, so when I SEE something that should be assessed, I say it, and everyone should or else this game is gonna rot.

I would have finished this part if the Basilisks hadn't vanished...

That part made me laugh: Fly aircrafts, jump from them, service weapons up to 30mm and 700Kg bombs harmonize 30mm cannon pods, then come back to talk about growing.

Indy

It's a refusal to be taken for granted. About you define "TRICKY" and look at the game compared to 2024 real world?
adjective
1.
(of a task, problem, etc.) requiring care and skill because difficult or awkward.

Quite the opposite of reliable and BTW, combat system developers today do whatever they can to make pilots job easier, NO TRICKY stuff there, and YES I compare this Sci-fi game to today's technologies and some of it is backward.

If guys like you keep blaming the players instead of trying to contribute to making the game better we're in trouble and that's exactly what you're doing.

There are issues but it looks like everyone giving advise miss the point I AM A GOD DAMNED CUSTOMER AND AM NOT KISSING BUTTS and the only way to make sure the game improve is to tell it when something is wrong, not blame players.

I agree. The storyline seemed determined. I think that decision was made back when it flew to Sol. FDev decided to make a finale event and needed the Titan to be there for it. Similarly, they sped up the destruction so as to get to the meltdown sooner and the explosion before Thursday.

I really hope that means we get some fun updates on GalNet in the coming days. Hopefully about the Thargoids. I know it will likely be a lot to do with the new colony stuff, but I just want more lore. Regardless, I plan to head out to Colonia after the Titan goes boom anyhow. So unless there's something compelling (like another CG) to keep me in the Bubble, I'll be doing Colonia stuff and CQC for the next couple weeks.

What are other people's plans?

I was just wondering because since yesterday there were a number of posts on Reddit discussing to stop bombing until the server tick and see if something changes. And as we know from this community, if you give it a bit room to breathe and think, they jump on every crackpot idea (see Mother Gaia and Triton permit lock). But the time for such a reorientation was too short. And the new FSD dangling in front of everyone's face were probably also too good. But given that they are now also unlockable at technology traders, it might've worked out.

Anyway, I will probably hang around if there's a rebuilding CG. Otherwise I might finally go on my exploration tour with my carrier. And it's only 29%-points to triple Elite, so hanging around some CNBs for a while could also be in the cards. And then there is Rax... well, nevermind

If people stopped attacking the titan, how would they get the last decal that shows they participated in defeating all of the titans? Completionists gotta have their decals, doncha know.

However, there will soon be a titan husk in orbit around Earth. After the Feds do some research and refuse to release their findings, conspiracy theorists will probably conclude that
1) it was s a Thargoid ship that crashed as Roswell;
2) a Thargoid caused the Tunguska blast, and;
3) a Titan bombed the dinosaurs.
