Elite: General talk

Fast is in relative terms. They don't use wormholes as we do, or portals into/out of Witch Space like other Thargoid ships are seen doing. They travel dark space between stars at superluminal speeds... I believe the highest that Cocijo was seen travelling on its current journey was 105,000c (yes). No human ship can match that. For reference, at a speed of 100,000c you'd be crossing 8 light years in about 42 minutes.

It did cross a (straight line) distance of 189 light years in just about a week, but the actual distance travelled is probably slightly higher than that as it passes by stars in its travel and so has to diverge to follow the path they offer. If you consider the actual distances of space involved, compared/relative to the mode of travel... yeah, it's pretty damn fast.

So it was brought to my attention today that someone's antivirus software flagged a trojan present in the EDHM UI mod/companion to the primary mod, and I decided to see if mine reported the same. Sure enough it's flagged and isolated the files as well under that pretense.

Who or whatever is behind this can take a walk into the nearest fire pit. This was not an issue until one of the recent compatibility patches, or maybe not even until today (and I definitely didn't run it through any updates - deliberately/myself - since Thursday). Maybe I'll just remove the thing and suffer the oranges until more is known...

... and if this is more suited to the off-topic section feel free to move it there. Just figured it's worth pointing out in case it isn't just some idiotic joke or false flag.

*Apparently it is just Windows programs being idiots. As usual.

We have confirmed on our end that this is a false positive from Windows Defender.
Yesterday Defender gave alerts then nothing until tonight and then nothing again.
We are investigating possible solutions on our end to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, but it may be necessary to wait for Defender to update on all systems, hoping that it will stop acting up.

Time to have fun guys. About time the lazy titan took time to arrive

Affirmative, for the Bertshinger, for Sol, for Humanity.

I thought you’d be more pleased that it was torn to largely unidentifiable wreckage by Thargoids.

I think there would be a better sense of urgency if the attack did not seem like every other Thargoid attack. A few ideas that might have made things more interesting, but which would have required major development work:

1) Titan parked above Earth begins orbital bombardment by hurling asteroids at the Earth. Players have to intercept the asteroids around the titan, or in designated CZs where the asteroids are being staged. So, now do you not only need to defend against thargoid ships, but you need a few people with seismic launchers to break up the asteroids before they are launched and destroy large population centers.

2) Stations and settlements attacked by the thargys which do not reach a certain repair percentage in a given amount of time are permanently destroyed, or there are ongoing CGs to rebuild them.

3) Salvation reappears and says "Hold my beer."

I mean you can fight in CZs in Sol where there’s also (active) Farraguts acting as conflict zones like they did in 22460, and there are some stations which remain active. But fighting there seems like it doesn’t have much of a point while the Titan’s magic shield is active unless you want the experience of battling in an environment with a permanently active anti-Guardian field.

I’d really just like some kind of more permanent consequences to an attack like this instead of everything merrily going through an automated repair cycle and then it’s as if nothing ever happened. Or for a Titan to actually do something more to avoid getting reduced to roasted chunks of machinery and organic… stuff. Like if this just runs on a week (maybe two if the invasion clearance is slow or does not get to the controlled systems, or the Titan holds another trump card) it would barely even be a disruption from the usual.

Other than “Sol”, which is less important than the Titan supposedly going on a major offensive into the core of human space, there isn’t really much going for this while the two [probably] specifically targeted locations appear to be unlikely to be captured (which I am fine with for Duamta but I’d have loved to see Sirius burn).

Forget about such complex missions, they can't fix/create simplier things.
