Igneel PrimeThe Triglavians aren't a player faction. They're basically EVE's version of thargoids. Not as organic and more of a borg vibe but you get the idea. The story in EVE is far less important than in elite as the real story is what the players make. We talk about Feds and Empire potentially going to war and Rochester betraying the Federation while in EVE nobody gives a damn and just shoots at other people and the big story of the day is shit posting the other group's move on reddit. The here to ruin your game thing was from players and while it does sound evil, the way you put it makes it sound far worse than it is for any sane being. Since we'vehad this discussion before I won't make it another thousand words about it just being internet space ships.

As someone who roleplayed in EvE I need to disagree on one thing: The Amarr-vs-Minmatar and Gallente-vs-Caldari storylines were taken very seriously back in my days... but back then it was the "Empyrean Age"...

I even have that novel here. It's a very good read, highly recommended.

As much as there are people who take it somewhat seriously (most likely more "back in the day") it doesn't have nearly the impact at least in current day EVE as in Elite. The factions are meaningless for the majority of the game and players

EDIT: I also looked at that trailer now... Arguing with a game's state from 12 years ago is not exactly good for making a point

Yeah, I know... like I said, back then CCP actually cared about that. Hell, they even played the events from the novel out in the game, damaged stations and all. Then the Nullsec guys complained about not getting all the attention by the devs, resulting in the story being shelved, alongside the WiS/Incarna-project... (I wonder if CCP might revive the latter now that E:D's Odyssey is coming?)

Eve is a shell of what it was back then. I started in 2005 and left when they banned the casinos after the casino war. Things like personal narrative and living in the world are big to me and EVE lost that at some point. They seem to be doing ok financially but I've heard the game is massively dumbed down.

This. The game is still there and can be massive fun. But at some point it will meet its end. After 17 years total soon to be 18 the game is absolutely not the same. Some of it good some of it bad. And just like GoonSwarm is no longer uncontested with its force and number of titans, EVE is no longer uncontested in its market. Others have been watching and trying their own things. EVE will end up being one of many somewhat similar games struggling to remain unique.

I am really happy to see the resurgence of the space genre over the last decade. Hoping to see it continue.

Well then, finally completed Cyberpunk (went for the "The Star"-ending with a romanced Judy), and IMO it is quite easily a hot contender for "Game Of The Year". It has been a veeeeery long time since a game sucked me in this hard because of its awesome story and fun gameplay (its awesome soundtrack doesn't hurt either, Radio Vexelstrom FTW ). Sure, it has flaws (like the final fight of the "Beat-the-brat"-line of sidemissions, that bossfight needs some serious rebalancing ), but overall they are rather minor when looking at the whole thing.

To be honest, Cyberpunk suffered the rushed launch due to something I just call "that moment when shareholders/management threaten developers" (this was the reason why crunch happened in the first place). Especially when you take into account that Poland has had a stealmate with post-1989 agreements that no consecutive government was ever able to solve, due to how barred with pro-employer regulations law is. The most common quote being repeated when gov over here tries to do something against these malicious practice is that "government has no say in what company owner/employer does, as long as we pay taxes".

Privately, this is one of the reasons why I prefer Empire over Federation, because Federation has a lot of lore that reminds me what Poland almost became as rich businessmen were given tools to extort the people willing to work for slave wages, allowing severe abuse towards them while respective authorities just bounce away - able to react only in case of tax evasion and similar cases.

Cyberpunk was ok (as a person that doesn't pre-order and doesn't pay attention to any marketing or ads ever) but it was fairly mediocre compared to the witcher series.  I understand the amount of work that went into it so I don't dislike the studio for their quality issues.  What they were doing was hard, expensive, and beyond their ability.  I work in quality assurance so I was pretty sad with what was released but it was gifted to me so I can't complain.  I wish they treated their employees better, but the employees have a duty to demand and force better treatment.

This is why I support the Federation.  I see labor and corporate leadership as being locked in an eternal battle against one another and corporate leadership as being destined to lead.  Though I prefer technocratic rule by experts over crony capitalism.

Cyberpunk's Night City is one of my four favorite cities in video games, the others being Boston (Fallout 4), Los Santos (GTA 5), and Hong Kong (Sleeping Dogs).
